On 12 January 1952, Rosser, by then a corporal in the U.S. Army, was acting as a forward observer with Company L's (about 150 men) lead platoon (about 50 men) during an assalt on a heavily fortified hill near Ponggilli.
When the unit came under heavy f!re,
Rosser went forward three times and attcked the
host!le positions alone,
each time returning to friendly lines to gather more ammnition before charging the hill again.
Although wounded himself, he helped carry injured soldiers to safety once withdrawal became necessary. For these actions, Rosser was awarded the Medal of Honor.

My Uncle Ed had similar stories from Korea. He ran out of ammo and had to beat guys to death. He was also a WW2 vet as well but Korea is where he gave part of his soul for this country. I think between survivors guilt and the brutality of killing guys with his hands took him from war dog to a guy that never wanted to hunt or touch a weapon again. He was a good man and good patriotic American.

"Out of every one-hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the rest back"

Remind of a video. A young punk tried to rob an old man. Unfortunately for the punk ... The old man was a WWII Marine veteran who fought at Iwo Jima among other battles, former Golden Glove boxer and retired steel worker. The old man messed him up. I still grin thinking about it.

Rightfully so. You are a rare kind of warrior in battle!!! Very few can say boldly what you say. And i dont know if that traumatized you, but you had to do what you had to do. Thank you for your service, sir! ❤

The FO (forward observer) who directed artillery, was the deadliest soldier in battle. That's why they were so targeted by the enemy.

Now I understand the character that Clint Eastwood played in gran torino

"It's not the things they order you to do, it's the ones they don't"

That’s what other soldiers would call a high functioning psychopath.
