My wife and I took a school teacher couple we knew who'd never been to any Motorsport event, let alone top fuel. Being rural based they were quite sheltered, on the journey there we discovered just how sheltered they really were and we were both thinking that this was going to be a bit of a shock to them.We were perched about five up, and about hundred foot from the start. He was sat there with his coke and popcorn and a massive grin as they were staging, mentioning how loud they were, I told him to put the goodies down but he wasn't quick enough, he managed to put the coke on the floor but most of the popcorn was involuntarily shared with everyone in a ten foot radius😂, he dies inside when his wife recounts that story.

I took my wife to the NHRA Northwest Nationals last month, tried my best to prepare her for the experience, as she said afterwards, nothing can adequately describe what it is really like, you have to experience it first hand.

You never forget that feeling! All that horsepower reverberates through your body. Shakes the air, and you feel the pressure waves. This is how it started for me. Eventually, I was the guy running the starting line.

I don’t think it comes close to this but, I felt the exact same way when I had a gt40 start up right next to me. Just the sheer feeling of awestruck (dunno if that’s used correctly). Literally felt it in my heart. They also revved it and it was insane. The atmosphere felt like it changed around me. I will never forget it and I feel like it’s a thing not a lot of people will be able to experience. At least I think. Either way it was absolutely awesome.

You can tell about and see it on tv, but until you experience it live and in person, there's nothing like it, everyone needs to experience this sometime in their life good reaction from those kids, they will never forget that "feel".
