Actually most dermatologists recommend using bare hands. Even if you wash it thoroughly it’s such a good breeding ground for bacteria. So you’re essentially washing yourself with more bacteria. Also you should only be exfoliating 2 times a week, as exfoliating to much strips away the skins natural oils. That’s why even if you exfoliate a lot you’ll still have back acne or other acne because you skin will ramp up oil production because of you stripping away the oils leading to a higher chance of acne. So using bare hands is better and exfoliate twice a week is the rule.

Well loofahs/phyiscal exfoliants are to harsh/rough on skin for a lot of people so maybe a chemical exfoliant for example: urea, can do a better job and being a lot more gentle

Yea those things hold moisture which when not completely dry or if you don't wash them they will grow bacteria and even mold. Same with the wash cloth.
