This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse mid-size, 3-row SUV. Gone is the V6 and the 9-speed automatic transmission, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is now using a new 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet modified the previous 9-speed transmission by changing out the torque converter for enhanced drive quality while maintaining the same towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. In Canada standard AWD. In the US FWD and AWD models are available.
There are three trims in Canada and four in the US, there is the the top 2024 Chevrolet Traverse RS model which is the sportiest looking of all Traverse models with back exterior accents, 22” wheels and red interior accents. There is also the new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 model which has a more rugged look, it has a twin-clutch setup to optimize its off-roading capabilities, almost an inch more ground clearance than the other models, an off-road tuned suspension and 18” wheels with all-terrain tires.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has a new standard 17.7” diagonal touchscreen and 11” digital driver display which really highlights the interior. The outgoing Traverse had a standard 7” touchscreen, available 8”, so this is a big change. It’s a 7 or 8-passenger SUV depending on the trim you choose and it’s very spacious offering fantastic overall cargo space at 98 cubic feet.
MSRP for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse in Canada starts at $47,999 CAD, Z71 $53,999 CAD and RS $62,899 CAD.
In the US, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse LS FWD/AWD $37,600 USD/$39,600 USD, LT FWD/AWD $40,000 USD/$42,000 USD, Z71 AWD $46,400 USD and RS FWD/AWD $54,200 USD/$56,200 USD
2024 Chevrolet Traverse AWD fuel economy is 12.4L/100 km, 19 MPG city and 9.9L/100 km, 24 MPG highway.

I agree all models should have a optional second row bench seat. Georgia is a great State. Was there this past December and Savannah is a beautiful City. Hope you both enjoyed your time in Georgia.

Great Job Chevy! I had a 2019 Traverse and enjoyed it but his looks so much better.

Glad you continue to mention lack of available 2nd row bench in Z71 and some other trims. Bulbous vehicles like these need maximum utility including benches.

great review! love this car, real buttons and knobs are a necessity to me, glad to see they keep those there.

Agreed with you guys. They nailed this. A very strong offering in the segment. Time will tell for reliability (I didn't know they had a 2.5T engine), but they should be able to sell every one of these they can build.

Yesterday I saw a gray RS version and it stopped me in my tracks ... It is great looking SUV ... the skinny light above the headlights has a sequential turn signal ... it looks stunning

I cannot believe you came to Atlanta and didn’t stop by. I guess turbo 4s are going to take over the world. I have a 2022 4Runner and will be driving it for many years. My wife has a new RAV4 hybrid. This is after many years of Chevrolets, but little aggravating problems drove us away. Hope you enjoy your visit.

I went yesterday to test drive the new Traverse with the Z 71 package cloth seats, super cruise and the panoramic sunroof. I love the truck, but there were a couple of issues. When we folded down the manual third row with the headrest would not fold in. With the third row folded flat, we could not bring the captains chairs all the way back because of the headrest. The dealer couldn’t even figure it out. On top of that when we put the rear AC on, the compressor or fan in the back right of the vehicle was so loud it was extremely annoying, especially since the car is so quiet inside without the radio on. Not sure if you get a second chance to see the vehicle, but when you get into the backseat and turn on the rear AC controls, listen to the fan and the right rear of the vehicle. Other than that, we found the traverse, very easy drive and very responsive. They definitely priced it right as well. My pic would be the Z 71 with the super cruise and the upgraded seats. Around US$52, 000.

Totally agree with bench seats on the top trim

Looks to be truly competitive with other 3-row SUVs like the Palisade, Telluride, Grand Highlander, Pilot, etc. Price point is huge. They’ve done a nice job.

The Candian prices are incorrect, they have bumped up the prices by 3k for each trim.

Chevy has really upped their game on their SUVs. Everything from the Trax to the Traverse is a hit. It's also nice to see some color coming back to interiors. After years of bland black, greys, and beige, reds, blues, and even yellow on the Trax is a breath of fresh air.

Great review you two, yes its very quite inside even my 2010 is very quite . Glad to see the refinements and the outside style now looks great .My 2010 bench second is nice but the middle position is tight between the seatbelt locations.
Great job GM.

I know it's a small detail, but I really appreciate the side-by-side cupholders.
