Most people never needed the Tahoe, the Traverse just needed a visual makeover to make people less ashamed of driving it.

Where I live, its seems the white Tahoe/Yukon is a mom status symbol. School functions are a sea of them. Moms stepping out in lululemons toting Stanley cups and fancy handbags.

Finally the Traverse actually looks attractive — honestly it’s what the Blazer nameplate should reflect … while the Trailblazer nameplate would be great on a Bronco/Wrangler competitor. But alas …

Giant Kudos for pointing out some of the concerns. Hate hate hate when reviews just praise praise praise like they are the greatest vehicles ever.

I always have my lights on Auto... there has never been a time to change that... and even if I did... it's a simple 2 tap fix on the Screen, front and center right there under the volume knob. I don't see the complaint as valid. A lot of these settings should be chosen before your trip anyway.

The only time the Z71 would see off roading is at the unpaved parking lot of the youth soccer field

I have the 18 Traverse with 70k miles, had it for 3 years, and no problems

I disagree the Traverse doesn't have a good reliability history compared to the Tahoe . The Tahoe is more robust and has been out on the market for a long time .

Lane keep assist is just below the radio volume knob. I just delivered one to a customer earlier today. Super cruise worked great here in southeast Idaho.

Great review Nathan. I was looking for this yesterday. Other channels released a review yesterday, but they don't compare to my friends at TFL.

I know people say a lot about the V6… I have the 2022 Traverse FWD LS sporting the black badges all around with 18” black wheels and the traveling package. I have no complaints about its power as I take down some country roads when I travel to the family hometown and very likely maxed out on a few occasions. I will admit, I’m definitely loving the Z71! Will the new z71 come in white? I’m definitely loving the Stormtrooper look on mine 😅✌🏼

Just purchased the first one in my county today! I got the LT version but it was equipped with so much. I had the high country and upgrade the year.

I just rented one of these for a week in Hawaii and have a few opinions. At first, I thought it was kind of fun and I really liked the big screens, but it was quickly annoying how you couldn’t really do anything with the screens because everything requires a data subscription and of course the rental company won’t pay for it. Ended up using CarPlay the whole time, but that was fine. Onto the car and really it just became unlikable in a few different ways. First is that the engine feels pretty wimpy. The transmission almost seems like a CVT. It’s just so lackluster but honestly, it was actually pretty peppy. It just felt weak with Wimpy sound that I’m just not used to with my German SUV.

The next big gripe is the technology. Just kind of sucks. The lane keeping assist loves bouncing you from lying to line left to right and it doesn’t mind if you crossover into oncoming traffic it won’t do anything about it. I don’t know if it’s because Hawaii has some satellite issues or sun glare or whatever but I can only get the adaptive cruise control to work 40% of the time. Most of the time it just tells you crash detection is disabled.

Just a cheap quality feel of everything. Thin body parts, thin plastics, cheap plastics in the interior that are flexible. Just everything looks really super cheap coming from my daily driver. I know American people think contrast stitching is some sort of sign of luxury, but it’s not. It’s just different color threads . Also, Annoying was the placement of the rear cupholders. I can’t tell you how many times I smashed my elbow on somebody’s bottle. I wanted to just chuck them out the window.

Also is super freaking annoying that every time you walk past the back of the car, the trunk opens automatically. You don’t even have to swipe your foot. It has some sort of range detect. Option to completely shut off for manual trunk opening which sucks. Other than that, you have to suffer if you have a kid in the seat and every time you get them in the car and you wanna switch sides of the car quickly to buckle another kid you got then go back and close your trunk.

It’s super annoying, annoying, and definitely wouldn’t be ideal in a big city situation where there’s 1 million people willing to steal your stuff when you’re not peeking.

All in all, I just really didn’t like the vehicle that much but at the end of the day it wasn’t that bad. I think somebody who’s not driving a German luxury SUV on a daily basis would probably find this really nice and a good modern upgrade with lots of technology, but it’s technology that barely works and you’re just getting straightforward quality with thin metals flames or build materials. Oh, and oh my God, the wind noise and road noise are tremendous. I thought I had windows open. I could hear so much wind blowing through all the seams. I’m just so used to my current vehicle with double insulated glass and super thick, gaskets and sound deadening on all the body panels that you just don’t hear anything when you’re driving unless you’re hitting a big bump.

The first five minutes of being in the car kind of changed my opinion about American cars, but then after driving for a week, I have to say American cars just quite aren’t to snuff

Thanks for the early limited scope view of the new Z71 Chevy Traverse, Nathan. Can't wait for the full review under your normal TFL conditions. GM has been building Turbo 4 cylinder with Low end torque for 15 plus years. I once had to suffer getting 50mpg in a 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.4 liter LOL.. Still, beating Ford and Ram on base model half ton truck engine.
Great extra piece of mine for bad weather on roads with that twin clutch. All-wheel drive system. 30 grand cheaper than a Tahoe, good deal..

There is a permanently fixed icon on the 17" screen for both headlights and lane keep. I'm sure most drivers will use the auto headlight function for 95% of their drive time. The button is easy to push (for either) otherwise IMO.

LT can be fitted with either 8 *or* 7 passenger, not only 7 passenger. Z71 and RS are 7 only.

Tahoe with 3.0l diesel is a real off road vehicle.

That's a gorgeous vehicle. Looks like a mini Tahoe. Love it.

As new vehicles continue to stack up on dealers lots with higher interest rates the vehicle manufacturers are not in reality with the economy.
