raspberry pi cameras are about as small as the eye piece.and last I checked they had like 8-12mp cameras. Someone smart could make a custom eye piece for the camera and it would be better than these 2mp ones currently on the market.

The waveyness is from rolling shutter. The camera isnt reading the whole frame in one go, its reading it from top to bottom a row of pixels at a time. This means if the camera moves it'll give a bend in the image - same thing happens if you try to take a video of something moving quickly with a cheapish camera.

Excellent video! You have a customer. This is how videos should be done.

For electronic rework/soldering, you only need 10x-40x magnification... are there any USB based microscopes, true 4k/optical-zoom that you'd recommend?

For example, one that can output video
1) wirelessly to a android/monitor receiver (Miracast/Wireless-HDMI)
2) Wired USB to latptop/tablet device
3) Wired HDMI

Dual-lens for seeing depth.. and a large Field-of-View would also be nice. Unfortunately, the ones I've seen are very expensive, presumably because they have way too much zoom (130x-180x lens), or come with their own 10" display, or gimic features like remote-control, etc.

I was offered a biological grade 1600x stereoscopic microscope with an unpopulated camera port, but after reviewing several of the cheaper generic brands available, I settled on using my Galaxy S21 ultra camera attached with an aluminium quick release Arnarkok adapter. Offering me ultra clear 40Mp high definition captures, with all the usual software adjustments and filters included at no extra cost. Why spend serious money on an expensive HD microscope camera, when I already have a versatile multi-lens camera in my pocket. Thanks for the in-depth review. 👍😉

I would like to get a cheap microscope for home personal use but i don't want to get those nikon or olympus microscope too expensive. I am a haematology medical technologist by training so i want to get a cheaper version microscope that can view peripheral blood smear 40x. And if there is 100x lens would be good. If not it is fine

Phone is way better than average microscope camera. And we already have it.
So, instead of buying a bad microscope camera, invest in a proper phone adapter.
Thanks me later
