For the Gemini Live to work you have to make sure your phone is set to have Gemini as the default assistant. Your phone was likely still set to OG Google assistant.

James... please... there's a massive gear settings icon right next to the EQ settings where you can customize literally any of the preset EQ settings.... its so obvious and you didn't even try

And with that 'Hey Google, let's talk', my home assistant started telling me it's been getting into astronomy lately

Actually, it *is* an app. It's just integrated into the settings menu for Pixel phones specifically. If you want to access these settings on a Samsung phone or any other manufacturer's phone, you have to install the Pixel Buds app from the store.

Need to see the pillow test come back. Obviously not supposed to wear them while sleeping, but even resting on the plane would be a nice benchmark

The conversation detection mode switches from any sound you make. You sing, transparency, hum, transparency, cough, transparency. Also because it depends on you talking I found it useless since I wouldn’t hear the first sentence of what someone said anyways so pausing was just easier.

One thing I didn't see mentioned that I find very useful is that you can have them connected to 2 devices at once. I have them connected to my phone and computer and it's seamless to go from listening to music on my phone to taking a zoom call on the laptop and back without having to constantly go to Bluetooth settings on both devices to set the active device. Super handy for me.

It does have a dedicated app. It's called pixel buds

7:30 They will also change the mode. This means you must listen to your song quietly; otherwise, they will think you're talking instead of singing and change the mode when you don't need it. This already happened on the old buds, too!

Incredible to see how far truly wireless earbuds have come. All the tech in that small of a package.

These always go on sale on Black Friday and Christmas. Good time to get these around that time.

can confirm, at least with the bud pros, that singing along will trigger transparent+pause.

I work in hospitality, mostly back of house, it's pretty good for that kind of use case.

the days I'm pressure washing and listening to memphis rap I have to turn off conversation detection.

I use these on iPhone/iPad/Mac/Windows PC and love them (work and personal). To get the features, if you have a Mac or windows PC, you get access to all most features(did not see or look for find my), can update firmware, set and things like awareness, multipoint, equalizer and etc by using the Pixel Bud Companion app. Some the features came onboard once I updated the firmware. The call quality has been good in and out of restaurants (based upon feedback I have received). My AirPods pick up small sounds, I often get complaints from family and etc who will ask “what are yin doing ? “ when it could be just crinkling paper. No complaints when using the Pixel Bud Pro 2’s. As an iPhone user, I am g, ad I bought these even while I own AirPod Pro 2’s and Bose Ultra QCII.

Conversation detection on first Buds slaps. It not only switches to transparency, but it also pauses whatever you were listening so you can actually hear what someone's saying. Yes, it can misfire occasionally and in some weird times (like strong wind gust), but it's still an ultimate hands free way to start talking with someone.

Personally, I would prefer if they don't put USB cables in the box in accessory-like products. It's just redundant at this point for most people
