Summary of the whole topic:
Equity shareholders:-
* Are shareholders who does not receives fixed rate of return ( dividend).
* At the time of winding up of business( company) equity shareholders are not given preference first and it is also not sure whether they would be able to get something or not.
* They get voting rights, they elect board of directors of the company by following democratic principle of"one man one vote."
*They also get the authority of management and considered to be as the owner of the company.
Preference shareholders:-
* Are those shareholders who get fixed rate of returns (dividend).
*At the winding up of the company they are treated first and receives the interest.
They do not have voting rights.
*They are not the owner of the company. Thus they cannot participate in companies management.
Equity shares:-
These shares are treated in stock market, the price of these shares fluctuates there is more risk in equity shares, one can earn maximum profit and bear huge loss as well. Equity shares can be purchased by general public .
Preference shares:-
These shares are not treated in stock market it is not easy to purchase preference shares, preference shares are generally entrusted to financial institution because company generally don't want to pay companies loans in cash so they issue preference shares to big financial institutions.
