"The Evercade VS-R still features a dual cartridge slot and four USB ports for local multiplayer action. The HDMI output makes this the best way to play retro games on your television or monitor at 1080p resolution. The console firmware now includes the option for TATE screen rotation, which means if your monitor or television supports it, you can now play vertical games on a big screen to great effect. WiFi connectivity allows you to update your console firmware with ease.

Included in the Evercade VS-R package is one controller (also in charcoal grey with turquoise accents), one micro-USB power cable, one HDMI cable, and one Evercade cartridge collection, using our new Giga Cart format, which will be announced later this month."

Lotta angry comments, but it's clear it's mostly because the Capcom deal has ended. It's either sell the exact same system minus those games, or try to do a unifying redesign. The VS still had the old red and gray color scheme that didn't match. Might upgrade the EXP I have some day, but definitely not the Duke VS. I doubt there will be any substantial must-have improvements, but we'll see. The VS is still on micro USB, so it's really the same thing.

It sure seems that Evercade is capable of releasing interesting hardware variants. I wonder how many people would be interested in some more controller options?

I'm actually glad this isn't an improved variant but it's nice for collectors and new fans I suppose

I already have a VS but hey this will be great for newcomers so I got no complaints. I felt it was too early for a new system and Im happy with this being a lower price version, but I do hope we see down the road a new handheld with joysticks and heck maybe a slide screen that reveals a keyboard under it like the old slide phones.

"EXP-R is the best way to play Evercade cartridge on the go with the focus now purely on the handheld gaming experience. The console also comes in charcoal grey with turquoise accents on the Menu, Start, and Select buttons, as well as the power button. A new textured grip on the rear of the console provides extra comfort during longer play sessions. "

"Namco Museum Collection 1 & 2 are also not supported on Evercade VS-R."

...Really? I thought that would have been resolved by now.

Not sure what that was all about.

So R added to the name. Changed the colour. Lowered the price.

Not new hardware then. Unless I'm missing something?

Could have done with a longer more in depth video.

If the VS-R and EXP-R have new functionality or more power it would have helped to explain that.

Bit of a missed opportunity.

Now give us a neo geo cartridge please

So basically the R stands for ‘cost Reduced’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kind of glad in a way as only picked up my VS and EXP a few months ago and would be bummed if they were obsolete already.

And now i debate whether to get a VS finally or wait to see what the inevitable built in exclusive games will be on the next hardware reveal 🙃

This is great news for me! I only recently got into Evercade with my EXP and wanted the VS for a while now. The charcoal and blue is so nice looking that I'm immediately sold on it! Great work and keep the amazing carts coming, please! 🎮😊 p.s. now that we can have CD games with your Giga carts, can we please get an Atlus Thousand Arms cart? 🙏

Interesting idea, I guess 🤔
I was thinking that Blaze (at some point) would end up upgrading both systems (power wise) to handle Dreamcast emulation or something. I understand some reasons to cut costs, but this is still a head scratcher to say the least.

Like what you guys are doing in this space; but still wish you would make an update Evercade handheld model that also connectes to the TV natively with bluetooth wirless functionality for extra controllers as well.

Sold all my Evercade stuff when the quality of the games got worse. Also mangled my OCD that the legacy carts were being deleted. If you're a collector, I can't see the point of getting into Evercade now, unless you are happy to pay OTT prices for the legacy carts. Technos cart 1 is going for silly money on ebay. If they sort out their licencing issues, I'll be back. Oh and Namco 1 and 2 handheld only? Come on, Blaze.
