I came across an interesting and thought-provoking video against Sola Scriptura, here's my defense.

Hello and welcome to this video. In this video, I will be responding to a video made by the youtube channel Catholic Truth. In that video, he put forth five interesting questions and arguments against sola scriptura so I will be reacting and debunking those arguments in this video.
I hope you enjoy this video. If it's too long, I plan to upload extracts of this video later on so you can watch it easier.

It comes down to this: I believe a preacher 's (or, if I were Catholic, the pope's) words as being the word of God, until they contradict the Bible. If I have to choose between the Bible and the words of a man, I will go with the Bible. Sola Scriptura.

He conveniently chooses the Roman Church as the One True Catholic Church ... Eastern orthodox, Old Catholics are not 'The Catholic Church' by that logic. How convenient...

I would disagree with you on saying that the scripture is not all you need. I believe saying that it is all you need and saying it is sufficient are synonymous. Because it's all we need for what? The scriptures is all you need to be a Christian, become saved, spread the word, etc. That is if a random person was stranded on an island with just the bible, the bible would have everything they need to become saved and all of that. So basically the scripture is in fact all you need, but church, fellowship, assistance in understanding some nuances, etc are HELPFUL in growing as a Christian, but to say that "the scripture is sufficient but its not all you need" makes no sense bc if you need more, then the scripture was not sufficient as for something to be suffienct it must be, by definition, enough to achieve a certain purpose. Another example would be assembling an ikea desk but the instructions are only in Swedish. The allan wrench, nuts, bolts, wood, and little diagrams that come in the swedish instruction booklet are sufficient to build the desk (i.e you have everything you need to build it and there aren't missing parts and stuff), but having a youtube video or english instructions would be helpful for you to build it, but not neccessary. If a screw was missing then you do not have everything you need and what you were given was not sufficient to build the desk.

Well, one of the reasons for which The Catholic Church believes in Tradition and Scripture as authoritative can be found in what JESUS left for us, specifically, with Peter, we see later that Peter and The Apostles choose a new Apostle after Judas the iscariot died, we know why… they do so however by casting lots, praying, and deciding with The Holy Spirit. This was done without Scripture but with CHRIST as their Authority, we see later how they met up and decided on things as a whole, and their decision was true because as JESUS said “you will have the authority to bind up and loosen” and so, The Church has this authority, spicfically, those who succeeded from a The Apostles. I guess you could say that tradition comes from Scripture, because from it does The Catholic Church set its teaching, but, when we need to make decisions for new problems, like abortion for example, The Church depends on the authority given it by CHRIST to make a decision of it. Also, what I did notice that you said is that this is “your opinion” but others may have other opinions of it, that is why we also need “tradition” because if we did not have a base for our belief, then we wouldn’t all believe the same thing, an example of this can be found in The Nicean Creed, it was established due to groups of Christian believing in other ideas of who Christ was, like Jesus was a man and lower than GOD for example, we know that is not true and contradicts scripture.. my point is, without Tradition, and The Church, we would all have different interpretations of Scripture…

Jesus APPEALED to the Old Testament. He certainly believe it's INSPIRATION. see mark 7. He put it in PRACTICE. Jesus didn't see a problem appealing to scripture. He APPEAL to a PRIMARY SOURCE NOT A SECONDARY SOURCE.

I stopped when I got to 2:40 and realized there's no way I could ever be a Protestant. The idea that the Bible is the only infallible source of authority is laughable to me on so many levels.
