I can see it both ways. I think the collective attention span of mankind these days is extremely limited. Quick fire media, like Tik-Tok, reels, shorts, etc., have severely affected the fragile human psyche. People have been trained/have trained themselves to want to get their media consumed as quickly as possible. This doesn’t leave much of a market for longer (and more progressive) pieces of music, or entertainment in general. It’s a shame that art has been restrained in that way, but it is what it is. I can also get wanting to write shorter songs that get straight to the point. Those songs can be just as fun and entertaining.

I've noticed people who complain about "long" songs are usually guitar players who also complain about hauling gear and tuning Floyd Roses.

I'm not really a fan of there past work, but that new album is great.
