🥨 Cheese or mustard with your pretzels? 🧀

My sister often talks about how she hates to try new things because she'll just hate herself if it doesn't go smoothly. While I identify to a degree, I always try to remember that no one can be *awesome* at everything, but you do have the potential to be good at and enjoy dozens of different hobbies or jobs. And even if it goes badly the first time, you can always wait a while and then give it a second chance.

The emotions you feel while baking or cooking goes into your food, try the exact same recipe but when in a better mood. Sometimes stepping back and relaxing for a minute makes a big difference 👍

I would say be careful. Food media makes us forget the purpose of food. Feeding us!! If those pretzels tasted good I don't see that as a failure in anyway. Keep up the good work! 🙂

I am German and if you didn’t know, Pretzel originated in Germany, but they look really good. They do not have to be perfect, the taste is what matters! 😄😄 They look delicious so good job 👏

They might not have been the prettiest, but they look delicious regardless!

Yeah I totally get annoyed with myself if I don't get something perfect, but I have to remind myself that not everything can be perfect. I agree that cheese makes everything better haha. I love your videos they inspire me to try more foods and have fun with cooking.

I love how your channel is so real! You’re not afraid to be vulnerable and that is so good to see in a world where everyone wears a mask especially on social media. We get to learn about food and about being ourselves. Thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing. Your channel is more than just food

When you have recipe that doesn't quite turn out at first try-remember all the recipes that you've cooked that turned out just beyond good the first time! I'm sure they outnumber your not so pretty ones yes?
Do not boil your pretzels. Do a "baked" baking soda wash/brushed over instead. You'll end up with the nice crust/flavor you're looking for.
Bake a cup of fresh baking soda at 350°f for about 2 1/2 hours to three hours, stirring about every 20 minutes. This makes a more acidic baking soda. Ive used this for years instead of cooking lye.
I also used baked baking soda to make ramen noodles. It gives them the springy slippery bouncy chew that kansui water would.
Use about a teaspoon of your baked baking soda in 1/2 cup water and brush it or dip your pretzels in it(we make nuggets of soft pretzels its easier than twisted ones and my crowd gets hangry too fast lol).
Then bake. It gives the crust that myard(mieard? Sorry can't spell need coffee) crispy brown crust.
But caution it can burn your hands so wear gloves unless you've got tough skin from years of cooking/gardening.
Happy baking!
(OH all these tips can be found all over the web if you need more detailed advice/instructions 🥰)

I can relate to that. I can get really mad at myself if I mess up when making food. probably partly because I'm hungry and don't feel like cooking a second time lol

Where did you find that recipe? I’m German and I’ve never seen anyone boil the Pretzels before baking them before. They’re just dunked in the lye/soda. They’re not like bagels 😅

I’d also try rolling them way thinner, since they rise again while baking :)

"Since these pretzels sucks you must also suck at everything else" Sums up every baking experience I've done.

I'm a cook and this is a problem constantly when testing out recipes or sometimes just cooking a meal. It happens when you just gotta stop throw it away ( restaurantkitchen setting ) and try again because at the end of the day it's just food .

Your face was priceless. You’re right cheese does make everything better. Cooking and baking are trial and error. I feel the same way when I make fried dumplings. Ty for the vid💙❤️

I am a huge pretzel fan girl and honestly I don't have any expectations on appearance, I just want them to taste like a delicious pretzel. So don't beat yourself up bc I would still love to try yours.

I feel this way with bagels all the time. I love fresh, whole wheat bagels of various flavors, but they are always lumpy. They always taste good though. Definitely want to try whole wheat pretzels. I have huge containers of vital wheat gluten and barley malt powder I need to use up. Maybe I can make a little side business, cause the pretzels in the shop closest to my home (more than 30 miles) suck big time and so does their dipping cheese.

Same when i first try making steam buns it was basically shaped unheavenly. Thankfully it tasted so good i even almost finished it all and left my parent none lol.
