It says Hermes (HRMS) in a Proto Sanskrit where you read right to left (SMRH). Hermes is the Same as the god Thoth. If you look up the classic drawing of Hermes Trismegistus, you'll see almost the same letters in Proto Greek. Only being read Left to Right (HRMS). Hermes is Thoth the God of Wisdom, Master of Mysteries and Keeper of Secrets. The US Library of Congress Front Doors will show each incarnation of etc etc.

That´s probably the workers signature, stonemasons didn´t knew how to write hieroglyphs, so they had their own symbols. The first may represent the group that cut the stone, since the stone was mostly extracted by digging around it that may seems the proper symbol the V shape. The second symbol may refer to those that carried the stone to the River, being the River the third symbol, the forth are the ones that had it into place. So this may represent these four groups of workers. We see it all around in the great cathedrals several strange symbols on some of the ancient columns, representing the stonemasons guilds or personal signatures.
