Why Denzel and others comfort Will and not to Chris Rock, whose being slap and assaulted?

Really, Flip? The devil made him do it? There was absolutely NO good reason for that man to go on stage and assault Chris Rock and, make no mistake, it was HIS choice.

“The devil” needs to stop being used as a scapegoat for bad behavior. Figure your stuff out. That was you, Will Smith. It wasn’t the devil, and it wasn’t whatever movie roll you had played.

The problem I have with denzel is not that he went to check on will, It was that he didn't even bother to look at chris's direction. You know the guy that got assaulted on live tv

So while Denzel, Tyler and Bradley came to Will's side to comfort him, who cared enough to come to Chris Rock to Comfort him?

Chris deserved the "standing" ovation, literally. Dude didn't even stumble & kept it moving. Had it been me, I would have lost total control.

Will should have been removed before Will return to his seat. However, Chris was left to watch Will receive an Oscar, give a five minute speech and receive a standing ovation! Where was the empathy for Chris who had been slapped before the world?! TRULY HORRIFIC. Shame on you Hollywood! Shame on you!

How embarrassing for CR, to be humiliated like that must have been so uncomfortable, I admire his restraint and professionalism.

Still a bit disappointed in his response. There is some responsibility that lies with Will Smith for his actions. Yes, he needs help, but what about Chris. He has been going to therapy to keep his emotions in check and, thankfully, he was able to do that. But now he has to deal with perpetual humiliation on a global scale. To me, there is not really a good justification for what Will Smith did and he should face consequences.

Will Smith wasn't sorry. He partied all night and rationalized his behavior as being a "defender" even though he could have still been a "defender" using just his words.

Chris didn’t need a hug. He was clear. Will needed that spiritual guidance at that moment! They brought will in instead of condemnation. There’s pain there. If you are not saved you won’t get what denzel and Tyler did.
