Mate, when the brushes flare in that way.
Boil a pan of hot water 85 - 90 degrees C.

Lower the brush in vertically and leave for 30 seconds. As you lift it out all the fibres will re align.

May take 2 or 3 goes but it will straighten.

For applications needing a softer brush than the steel wire one, this might be useful. ie moss removal. Thanks for posting.

I bought a similar brush to this and the instructions said clearly it was intended for use on hard surfaces. The clever thing would be to use a chemical on your concrete before using the brush. As for using it to cut grass...

Maybe you could trim the frayed edges out to get more uses out of it! Hey, it will take a long time until all of the brush gets trimmed out! A lot longer than those weed whacker lines!

I move a lot faster with my trimming line. But that high quality screwdriver that comes with the kit, I would get it for that. Good video though.

Looks like it works great for curbs and cracks in concrete to remove grass there

You used it wrong. You used the right side pushing forcefully down and forwards. It is designed to use the leftside lightly, dragging while walking backwards, giving the machine time to do its work . Plus it is not designed for edging grass next to a concrete slab. It was designed to gently remove light weed growth from between pavers or to remove soft moss on concrete without leaving scratches. This is more of operator error tan bad poduct.

Everything you did you can do it better faster and easier with regular string trimmer head. And can edge with an edger blade. It doesnt make and sense to use this. Maybe itd be good for moss.
