Purchasing life straw supports clean filtered water for 3rd world communities

You don’t need to drink from the source though. You can put the dirty water in a container and use the straw whenever

I don't hear any scientific studies, only opinions

lifestraw works pretty well for what it is. if you're looking to purify a lot of water to cook with then it's better to use a filter bag. good thing about the lifestraw is that it's very small, doesn't take as much space, so it saves on backpack space.

Dude, don't tell people to throw money away if they already have something that works.

Just remember neither of them will filter out heavy metals or chemicals. You'd need a charcoal filter for that

I like all of your content, as a former Marine I'll keep my life straw, SHTF its always a bargain tool, it's light and portable..

I don't think the 33 employees of Life Straw like your video.

I think they are called “lifestraw go” or “lifestraw play”, for their convenience we use those to filter our sink water at the house and kids take them to school. Our town is on “boil notice” at least every other month for days at a time. Sawyer minis are in the BOB’s I am building.

I agree, the original Lifestraw sucks. But they came out with a new LifeStraw Universal bottle filter that so far has actually proven useful. I keep a Nalgene 32oz bottle, nested in a cup and stove, on my web belt kit. This new Lifestraw filter kit includes an in-bottle filter and 3 different caps, one of which fits wide-mouth Naglene perfectly, so now when I am oscar mike and need to get some water, I can scoop water from some stream or puddle into my bottle, replace the filter/cap and take a drink while remaining oscar mike. No stopping to try to refill my bladder, no attempts to strain sediment so my Sawyer Mini won't start flowing like it's from my 60yr old prostate, no futzing with squeezing from a dirty water container to a clean bottle, no waiting for iodine or chlorine dioxide tabs. Better yet, when I do get the chance to stop and get squared away, I can use the filtered bottle to refill my bladder too. Now Sawyer has its own filtered bottle, which I am fixing to try shortly. Another rule for your consideration, bear: "stuff changes". I still have a bunch of Sawyer Mini's myself...because they are not what I regularly use anymore. (Full BTW, I love your videos, I think I'll sponsor you at Patreon just to make sure you can keep up the good work.

The Sawyer Mini looks like a great alternative. I like my Grayl though, because it filters viruses, chemicals and heavy metals as well. Agree that the Life Straw is utterly useless.

So... no discount code for the lifestraw is what I'm hearing. Lol. Love the brutal honesty you are always spitting!

I have several of them. But I also have a half dozen Sawyer mini filters, some Katadyn hiking filters, a Big Berkey filter with several spare filter elements, a few RV water filters, and a platypus gravity water filter. It might seem like I have gone a little overboard on the water filters, but I have 4 people to worry about so having a few extra filters is a good thing.

I agree on the points you raise on the Sawyer. I picked up 5. Used then during a Hiking trip back in April 2019. I tested and used the Sawyer mini to filter and fill my Camelback from a small stream in a Nat'l Forest. It worked GREAT !

Lifestraw has been around for at least 20 years and has saved lives all over the world, you should do some research before opening your mouth

I received my lifestraw today, I do not quite understand why it will not be a good choice, do you agree that it can help? And what is the best filter for independent survival? Thank you.

The lifestraw by itself sucks. The lifestraw water bottle is actually pretty good. It'll filter enough drinking water for a year for one person...and you can just fill it up at any water source, chuck it in the pack....maybe have a couple extra filters on standby and go. Sure its expensive, but its all one self contained unit, as opposed to multiple components.

Great video, exactly what people need to hear for real life applications.

Caught giardia my first trip to the Philippines in 1987. 2 years ago my wife bought the kids and I life straw filter water bottles. We used them even to filter restaurant water. Nobody got sick. My 13-year-old son ruined one when he poured homemade coconut wine into it thinking it was water. He has used his for 2 years. I threw mine in a bug out bag where it sat for 2 years (I know, training...but nearly every waking hour I am not at my job I have been renovating an abandoned house for the last 2 years to get out of debt and keep my family off the street, almost done!) Recently I was blessed with another trip to the Philippines, took my barely used but 2-year-old life straw, it would not allow any water through, even after soaking. It is junk. Will buy Sawyer minis for my household once I move into the house, sell my current place, pay off my debts and have the money Thnks for the advice.
