Fruits, including grapes, bananas and watermelon don't spike my blood sugar. Oatmeal does but only for that one meal, my overall daily levels are below 10mmol even when I add oatmeal to my diet. But .. I can't have rice or pasta without taking increased dose of insulin. I have found the vegetarian diet best suits my body. I eat a lot of lentils and beans, nuts, fruits and raw veges like cucumber, tomato and carrots. When I do all this, my blood sugar stays within daily range 95% of the time. I used to eat low carb but my cholesterol level spiked so I switched to mostly vegetarian.

80 years ago, type 2 diabetes barely existed. Think about that.

My trick is to check my BG two hours after a meal. I like to try to keep the spike under 180. If the meal works, I'll put on a list of meals my body likes. What do I eat/drink? Mostly water tea coffee, and one 0 calorie energy drink. I"ll eat hotdogs, hamburger (no buns) cheese, questadilla with only 1 low carb tortilla, Lots of salads with vinegar and olive oil, mushrooms, fish, ham, unsalted almonds, unflavored geek yogurt 2% or 5%. I stay away from potatos, breads, processed foods, My a1c is 5.8.

Grains cause inflammation, and they’re really high carbohydrate.

So lovely. Thank you. Im always wondering about the difference between Native and Indigenous. I wish there were a kind way to clarify the big differences between the two. Migrants vs aboriginal for example. Both can not be ‘indigenous’. ❤.

My family is unrecognized indigenous and coming across the combining of the two concepts with very different meanings so commonly and often, stings with a loud burn. God bless x. To Native and Indigenous American people, I do hope we can make this right one day 🙏🏽 ❤. Amen

I have been diagnosed with prediabetes my A1C has increased over the past 5 years steadily and is now at 6.0.
This correlation of high glucose levels to carbohydrates is interesting. A 50g per day carbohydrate diet seems possible, but my glucose spikes at one hour or almost 200 and 2 hours are well above normal. Question: Why not eliminate all starchy carbs, and sugars? Question: Are there essential carbs like there are essential proteins and fats?

Hi, I came across this page to find answers and would really like some help. I haven't been diagnosed with diabetes but I had digestive diabetes 2 years ago when I was pregnant. For about a month now I've been feeling all the same symptoms as when I had digestive diabetes. I really want to start feeling better on my own.
