I Messed Up And Scratched A Rig

Went in to Golden Spike Trail to recover a Polaris General. After loading the trailer up at the shop I apparently left the controller for the main winch on the bumper and lost it. Not only did that mean I couldn't use the winch to load the vehicle. It meant I couldn't move the pole to keep from conta ting the front of the machine if it got to close. I thought I could make the Gold Bar Waterfall even with the damage done to it since we repaired it, however I slipped off a rock and the pole hit the front of the machine. Much of the video was cut of the incident due to my language. I was very upset with myself and it showed. I showed it to the customer as soon as they came to pick the machine up and deducted quite a bit from the tow bill to reflect it. They insisted it was fine and not an issue, but it was to me. I currently have 4 replacement controllers now so should the issue ever happen again I will be prepared. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

What’s sad is there’s guys that will damage a vehicle on dry flat pavement with a rollback and not give a crap . You’re an amazing operator

Rory, is like the mad professor of off road recovery. Everything has a reason why. Proof is that it just works..

After your customer learns about your reputation for NEVER scratching/damaging the rigs that you are put in charge of recovering, he’ll want to keep it as “a battle scar” and a keepsake. You’ll get it worked out between you, of that I have NO doubt.

Nothing like listening to a throaty V-8 at low RPM, and I mean low! Rory is definitely the "trail mater whisperer". He and that truck are just amazing to watch. Always a pleasure Rory! Only been to Moab once. Looking forward to another trip. As long as I am not being towed!

If it was mine... it was going to get scratched anyway... I would have just had him Autograph it, got a pic shaking hands with it in the background and had an awesome story to tell.

Keep up the good work Rory!

If that were my rig I'd be so thankful you got it out that I wouldn't care one tiny bit about a scratch or ding.

So Rory FINALLY scratches a rig he's rescuing (it looked somewhat unavoidable). Meanwhile, his awesome rig-hauler trailer he built is so well set up, greased, balanced and maintained that the wheel that was off the ground when he came to a stop toward the end of the video just kept spinning and spinning and spinning while he was talking to the camera for several minutes...I mean come on now! Rory...you are one hell of a good recovery driver, rock crawling driver and rescue equipment engineer/builder. We love it when you explain what you do and why, how you designed things to work and why and you give little tips and tricks off-roaders can use. Keep rockin' it brother.

I'm a life long stick shift driver and I'm still completely impressed that Trailmator has a manual transmission and that you do what you do with it.

You sure know that truck, and it's capabilities.
Great, unique build for a unique dude.
Great vids, great place, great people.

One tiny scratch in dozens of gnarly rescues is a tribute to your skills, and how well-designed is the mighty Trailm8r is!!! And great camera work too!

LOL!!!! I watch Jeeps and Trucks have such trouble with the Golden Crack on other YouTube channels. Yet here you are... dually tow truck pulling a trailer with a SXS on it, goes over it and other worse obstacles like it's nothing.
Never fails to crack me up.

Unbelieveable how you continue to recover vehicles that are designed for that territory but fail tackling it. Always impressed guys.

Another great episode! Your recovery skills continue to amaze me. Also, a shout out to your cameraman and editing crew. They typically don’t get enough credit, but they’re doing an amazing job!! 👍
