Hi, I don't know if you'll see this or comment - I'm still Team State Farm but a tad annoyed since my 6 month renewal a few weeks ago was a bit higher than I'd like - this is after a few years when my rates went down, especially when I bundled my homeowners with them in November 2020. Am considering moving the auto from SF but keeping the HO there at next auto policy renewal. I heard that SF starts spiking the auto rates when you reach a certain age which am close to - been driving over 30 years, never a DWI or DUI, nonsmoker, (touch wood) don't remember last time I got any kind of ticket, accident free almost 30 years, OK credit and work in an office (current employer over 8 years). I live in SE PA and wonder if the AARP sponsored 55+ refresher course would help lower the SF rates - I won't do any of the Big Brother gizmos from any carrier. I won't consider Allstate, AARP/The Hartford, AAA or Farmers due to personal experiences and/or reputation and am not crazy about Progressive, either. I thought about GEICO (they actually have an agency about 10 miles from my home) - and worked 3 years as a licensed accident/health producer (my producer license is inactive now) so I know some general insurance jargon, using some of it where I currently work, since I heard the rates at GEICO get lower after someone reaches a certain age. I thought about Amica but wonder if they would be too pricey, even after dividends; I know I don't qualify for USAA (I'm not a veteran or married to one - my Dad was a veteran but he died and he never was a USAA policyholder) - also considering Erie or NJM since they are highly thought of but am leery since they only write coverage in a few states and suppose I move out of PA? If you do see this, thanks in advance for your comments.

I have a current claim open with Allstate for storm damage to my roof. Its been a horrible experience dealing with them to say the least.
While my neighbors around me are getting brand new roofs I am arguing on phone with Allstate.

I've just started looking at auto insurance again because I've been with Progressive for at least 2 out of the past 7 years and initially when I started with them it was around $135 a month back in January of 2015 and I switched to Ensurance because they were quite a bit cheaper and now Progressive is back up to $135 but I did a quote with State Farm and it came out to $113 a month and the quote with Allstate is $105 a month and Allstate offers more in there quote so I need to call Progressive and question them why it went from $80 up to what they have my rate at now. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket since I was 18 which is over 11 years ago but I did get a ticket last year because I was trying to get rid of a car that hadn't had it's registration paid but that's all over the past 11 years.

I’m 6 months in on my Allstate and all discounts are dropping they are my first but it jumped so bad up to 400 I understand I live downtown in my area but lord then i call Progressive their was about 80 dollar different and then state farm was 180 different and all my Allstate people wanted to do too keep my bill low was to bundle but raise my deductible to $1000 which been in Covid and very day life made no common sense Allstate app sucks every time. Call to talk to someone I had to leave a message and then wait about four or five hours later for someone to call me back

4 out of 5 poor customer service experiences with allstate is why I am going to switch. And one really bad experience with statefarm I will likely look at another altogether.

Statefarm dropped my insurance on my 2017 Kia Sportage because it was prone to be stolen. Where I live is rural and I did all of kia upgrades. Yet they had no issues with my 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Allstate had no issues and the premium was a few dollars less.

Definitely Team State Farm - I've had Allstate for a few years in the late 1990's and the person who recommended me to them got into a huge horror story legal issue about one month after I signed up with them. As soon as I was able I switched to State Farm and saved a bundle - had a small claim on a broken auto window that was handled very well. Also, the main State Farm company is a mutual company - mutuals are a dying breed in the industry. This means that it's actually State Farm's policyholders who own State Farm, unlike most carriers such as Allstate & GEICO where the people who own their stock own the company. All things being equal, i'd lean towards a mutual since that carrier only needs to please policyholders and regulators - but stock companies also have to please their stockholders who just want to see profits, period. In the late 2000's I actually even got a one time dividend from State Farm when they had a really great year.

Allstate is among the worst rated on the internet. Dont let their ads fool you. They find ways to weasel out of paying and if they do pay anything they pay less than what it takes to fix something properly. Worst company I have ever dealt with.
