Why Do We Forget Things?

The brain is a pretty cool organ. But sometimes it can fail us, like when we forget someone’s name or blank on a test. How can someone just forget something like that?

Why i forget: My mom tells me a list of things to get from the store.

Here's what I do:

See An old friend and say Hi.
Walk and forgot what she told me.
Go into the store and forgot what she told me.
Have to walk back home because I didn't have my phone to call her.

I can recall events from primary school, the earliest being about 10 years ago, maybe even further back
I can recall almost every pokemon and how they evolve, possibly with the level they evolve as well if that's the method

I quite often forget what I've been told/asked to do as soon as I'm told/asked
