People who thinks that Dom is scared, tend to forget, or downright do not know, that damselfish are notoriously aggressive and tough. Mantis shrimp quite literally do not see them as food, and having one in a tank with a Mantis Shrimp will show the Shrimp that the area is safe, and you might see it out and about more during the day when it sees the damselfish swimming around.

I have watched fish swim for years and I have never seen a fish quite like Dom and Dom 2.0. I'm not familiar with damselfish but they swim like a prop fish 'floating' through a puppet stage, and it's just magical watching them swim around their tank.

But for real though, for y’all who don’t know, the video where the original Dom was first introduced to Kaiju, KAIJU was actually the one who was SCARED OF DOM. Dom had no regards towards his own life by getting RIGHT INTO KAIJU’S CAVE ENTRANCE for a couple of minutes and then went back out. There was one part where Dom was just swimming near the cave and Kaiju just straight up dragged a rock to patch up his entrance, LOL. Trust me, this Dom is gonna be fine. 😅🥰

I had a professor in college tell us stories about working in a pet store, and occasionally having to go to people's homes to diagnose their tanks. One of the main problems was overfeeding causing pollution in the tank. The excuse "Well, they looked hungry." "They don't look anything, they're fish."

I think of that punchline when people say he looks scared.

If he were scared he would be hiding and never want to come out. He is brave. Still, it's foolish to think the fish will never be predated upon just because the shrimp tolerates it. There is always a risk.
