I'm of Mexican descent. My friends boyfriend tried to tell me that I was incorrect about the fact that Mexican Independence Day is NOT May 5th. "Everyone knows it's Cinco de Mayo. That's why we party!" he was adamant about it. He got up and went to look it up (we had internet, no smartphones yet) and went home when he was proven wrong😂😂😂.

I have been painting skateboards and grip tape for two years now. My dad once insisted I add white behind my designs as a base so the colors pop. This is a basic painting technique I have been using for my entire life.

I have a story: someone was talking to me about how animation was so much harder before 3d models and how “no, you don’t get it, they had to draw frame by frame!”. As someone who currently does frame by frame animation, yes, I do get it.

I'm a professional digital artist. Someone tried to tell me the computer generates the art for me and that I'm not a real artist. I pulled out my iPad (They wouldn't even comprehend the actual programs I use, so I offered Procreate) and they (A charcoal artist) were floundering. They couldn't do anything well and just handed it back to me and blamed it on inexperience. I said very clearly the computer does not generate the art and that digital art is a medium. I explained the real enemy of all artists is AI art and they seemed to grasp it.

I sew and embroider as a serious Hobby. Someone once tried to convince me that the stitch used for filling in large areas was not a Satin stitch but a blanket stitch…

It’s crazy how one shift in mentality could have saved that last kid from humiliation. If he just asked “do you use this type of laser in your studies?” and gone from there. But no, he approached through a “you don’t know” angle, rather than an “I don’t know” angle.

Got a degree in geology and my grandmother wants to argue with me that the rocks she found in her backyard are potentially valuable since she saw a thing about someone finding a million dollar meteorite in their yard (hers is just old masonry rocks that got blackened in a previous grass fire). She also got mad that I pointed out her "diamond" rings were all just glass. 😒

I used to raise pigs when I was younger. Someone tried to convince me that I was lying because Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs showed how pigs are raised.

Dirty Jobs went to a FACTORY FARM to show how pigs were raised, I explained small farmers do not use those techniques or feed pigs like that.

But, apparently I was still lying about raising pigs despite literally showing them pictures of my pig with me with them.

No matter how many accolades a woman has, there will always be people who have no problems “correcting” them during public presentations. I have seen it countless times

I have geese, they are my pride and joy. I love them and I take care of them. I’ve been taking care of them since I was four, and someone once thrived to tell me that geese aren’t vicious and won’t attack people or chase people.

They chase me every morning wtf bro

The lawyer one makes me wonder if the student got an explanation as to why their understanding was wrong... Simply saying that they are incorrect doesn't help convince students

During a "Know your company" meeting, The CFO is explaining her role and what she does, and types of expenses. One of the newer employees didn't agree with her that a Sales Commission was a variable expense, and started to argue with her, and tried to end the argument with a "But I have a Degree!"... Then someone else pipes up "Your Associates in computer programming doesn't Trump her double Masters in Business Finance and 20 years experience."

Once had a 'friend' who, when I said I wanted to dance along with the actors at choreography practice (we were in theater club), said to 'watch and learn' because he thought that because he was having trouble with the dance they were learning, I would do worse than him cause I'm crew, not cast.... I have 10 years of dance experience, 5 of which were semi-professional. That guy was way too full of himself.

Not exactly something I specialize in, but I once had a teacher (ELA, thank god) who insisted that humans were mammals (that part's correct) "and not animals". I literally googled it in front of her, SHOWED HER that we were classified in Animalia, and she said that "they just throw everything in there". I- this is a FULL GROWN ADULT. At least she taught ELA and not, like, biology or something.

While it's not my career and I'm far from an expert, people around me generally know about my interest in languages and linguistics. Had a colleague try to tell me the Slavic languages are not Indo-European, because they are "so different". When I tried to correct him, his argument was that he was a native speaker of a Slavic language and I wasn't. Just being a native speaker doesn't make you an automatic expert on that language's classification, mate...

I mean, having a degree doesn't mean you're never wrong.

Correcting someone using their argument. I tell you some people have too much audacity. And no brain to back it up…
