Martin Schanche invented a similar set-up on his rallycross awd ford escort about 35 years ago....except maybe for the overrunning clutch. He designed it and had foundries cast the casings for him. His setup had bevel gearboxes on the sides of his cosworth engine that enabled the engine to be as low as possible instead of having axles protrude into the sump. This setup is somewhat simpler not having a center diff.

Similar theory (the portal AWD thingy) was used in Opel Calibra DTM.

Tried finding more on that front drive setup. Super interesting. Not listed on their website though.

300ftlbs? Guessing that was a mistake lol. How many gears are in the trans? Why such a strange looking front diff arrangement? Very cool stuff, thanks for sharing!

Nelson Racing is using something really similar if not the same, it's also from Weismann
