Jimmy was so charismatic and the host who is supposed to be charismatic too just seemed like he didn’t know how to react.

Stephen really screwed this interview up. Jimmy said a ton of funny shit and Stephen literally looked at him stone-faced.

Jimmy carried the conversation really well. He described the English learning experience really well. That was how I felt when I came from HK at 12.

"In China there's all just Chinese people" That was subtle humor gold.

every single joke he made flew right over the host's head this was painful to watch

“I was an Economics major because that’s the easiest degree that still will please foreign parents” 😂😂 Jimmy is hilarious and so relatable. He carried this interview for sure.

I also immigrated from Hong Kong when I was 11, and those were the exact same impressions I remember from my initial experience in school. One of the other boys asked me, "How are the chicks in Hong Kong?" and I literally thought he was asking about little chickens.

Jimmy does a great job at handling this uncomfortable situation with charisma. Like he's standing up to a bully with confidence. I like it!

chemistry sucked in this interview. Stephen made everything Jimmy said sounds awkward, but it rly wasn't. Jimmy seems like a cool down-to-earth dude

Such a bad interview from Colbert's side. He wasn't really trying to engage Jimmy and its especially bad because it's his first interview so why try to make him uncomfortable.

Stephen behaved like an immigration officer

Jimmy has such great stance and confidence. Even without a chuckle from the host, he maintains absolute coolness, doesn't pull back from his ideals. Probably one of the reasons why he overcame adversity and learned English like a beast.

That Hong Kong joke was so good, it was almost painful to watch not the host or the audience react to it.
just for reference: "no there's not much allegiance to anything in HK" is i think about HK's protest about Chinese control

Stephen only does good interviews with people who he's friends with.

Never heard of Jimmy O. Yang before but I found him hilarious, and he saved this interview. Colbert did a poor job here
