2002 Ford Ranger Fuel Cutoff Switch

using a 2002 Ford Ranger with a 3 liter engine I point out the location of the fuel cutoff switch aka the inertia switch. This cut off switch it's supposed to get triggered in the event of an accident but it can sometimes be triggered from severe off-roading or hitting large bumps Etc. it's important to make sure that you have no fuel leaks before you reset the switch.

Oh my Goodness.... Here is a story for you! You saved me big $ I think... I have a 2005 Ranger, 182K miles, shocks never changed. So today I changed shocks with no problems. Very happy with myself. But then tried to start the truck and it absolutely would not!! I figured it was the fuel. What the Hell? I never touched anything doing with fuel line. Worked 2-3 hours on it with no luck. So in desperation googled and YouTubed to look up issue online. This video was the first one I came across. Within 20 seconds you said there is a fuel reset button and showed where it was. I never heard of a reset button and I have owned 50ish cars and trucks. But what the heck, I went back to truck, found and pushed the button, and wellahh, truck started right up. So thank you so much!!!! Between you and the good Lord, Problem solved. A smile on my face!!!! 🤗👍👏

Your the man! Saved my ass big time! It was odd that the ranger would shut off in second gear and then wouldn’t crank over. I was about to get her towed out but watched this and hit the button and I’m good!

Thank you so much, got my truck to start again. I had just replaced the evaporator core and canister and it wouldn't start!

'04 Ranger would crank but not turnover. Resetting this did the trick. Thanks!

Cool! It works on our 2003, the first the button was all the way in the down position I used the key and slipped it the button up, then the engine started but it would not restart it died again, then I press the button down and it started! So I am assuming that the down position is where the button needs to be?
