That guys story is more of a culture shock than an internship horror story. Other stories had elements of discrimination, harassment and exploitation of power, whereas his was the odd one amongst all.

My boss was very rude, so I blocked her, she still doesn't know that I'm not working for her.🙃

Interns are really borderline abused and exploited even when it is unpaid. Also, this molestation and harassment have become so normal and common. This is so so sighs

i agree with the girl wearing hijab.... a lot of girls wearing hijab has to hear things about taking off hijab... which i think ia very inappropriate.. cause wearing hijab is a personal choice after all.... wearing hijab doesnt make anyone terrorist or bad

Unfortunately, people are young and naive and bosses tend to take advantage of that. Especially of girls. Few have the courage to speak out when they're that new.

Oh my god!! Buzzfeed this video is so so relatable.
Over the course of this summer. I faced the same issue with the hijab. It was in a hospital. They had a issue with me wearing the hijab. I actually gave up the internship when they asked me to work without it. Because I didn't think a piece of cloth actually had something to hinder with my working capabilities. It was very disheartening. I was shocked, it was the first internship I had applied for in my life.

I can relate, my internship was from hell as well. Surprised to see internships are bad in India as well, they are disgusting in countries like malaysia etc. too I did mine from malaysia and I was the only dark-skinned foreigner one among them. They said an easy-going, light work load internship where I would have the opportunity to learn new things. The only thing I learnt was patience. They were very badly behaved and the workload was very heavy. I found out later that I had only been hired as a cheaper option to an actual employee. I applied for an internship because they told me they take interns (another lie). They actually had a job vacancy and when they saw my internship resume, they decided I would be cheaper. No one in the office had any knowledge whatsoever of how to do that job and it was my first time doing anything in the real working world. I was just a 3rd year student then. I wasn't allowed any time to learn or even to formulate ideas, they rude if they saw me trying to make a plan of how I could do the project. I'm female and they asked me stupid questions as well like "do you have a boyfriend?", "why don't you have a boyfriend?" and then "let's find you a boyfriend" and more trashy comments like this. It was the worst time of my life and same like the girl in the video, my university refused to stop letting students go there. Everytime I think about how I spent those 3 months, I get so angry and upset. I don't know what to do. I don't even want to get a job now because of this.
