Was Jesus a PALESTINIAN?

The story of Jesus begins with him being born in what is now modern-day Palestine, in Bethlehem. So because Jesus was born in modern-day Palestine, does that mean that Jesus was a Palestinian?

Palestinian is a word that did not exist during Jesus' time. Sacred Scriptures refer to that land as Israel and Judah, not Palestine. The name changed to Palestine is credited to Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century. He did this to erase Jewish history. But the oldest cemetery, Mount of Olives existed since antiquity.

Before it was called Palestine, the land was called Judea. Jesus was a Jew of Jews. It was the Romans that renamed the land Palestine to slander and humiliate the Jews after the rebellion of Simon bar Kokhba. The British kept the name Palestine because the UK is a nation built on the Roman tradition like all Western European nations.

The Arabs who moved into the land much later after the Jewish Diaspora adopted the name Palestinian and made up an identity akin to a people of a nation state, BUT Palestine WAS NEVER A NATION. It has always been a part of other empires as a territory.

So was Jesus Palestinian? UH NO, he was JEWISH born in Judea, but raised in land of Galilee (city of Nazareth) which was historical land of the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

There are false claims circulating on the internet that Jesus was a Palestinian and not a Jew. Jesus lived in Judea prior to its Roman- forced name change in 135AD. There is no reason to attach the term "Palestine " to the land of Jesus birth. Jesus was of the people and land of Israel, and was born in Bethlehem of the region of Judea. Palestine is not written anywhere in the Bible. Palestine as we call it today in Jesus days was called " JUDEA ".

You stated at the start of your video that people in Bethlehem could not celebrate Christmas because of the Israeli blockade. Bethlehem is a majority Muslim city, with most of the Palestinian Christians gone. Umm… Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas.

Regarding the historical Jesus. He was supposedly born in Judea and grew up in Galilee… And he would have spoken Aramaic; not Arabic.

The Palestinian people are of Arab stock; related to the Jordanians. Hundreds and even thousands of years after the fact.

Do we call the Hittites; Turkish or the Sumerians or Babylonians; Iraqi… Or the Celts any number of European Nationalities. I could go on…

If this is the best you can come up with, maybe find a different job.

This video is just for reactions. None of the early documents ever call Jesus a Palestinian. Even Tacticus refers to Judea. Calling Jesus a Palestinian is calling Jesus a Philistine. Got to love modern Theology Schools. Once they taught the Bible but that fell out of vogue a long time ago.

He was Israeli, but many tribes were scattered all over the world mainly Judah (Jews) & Benjamites were in that area. He wasn’t Palestinian cause Palestine didn’t exist til they (Rome) named it Palestine in 300ad. Roman Catholics were antisemitic and named it that after the philistines to spite them.

Micah tells us that He would be born in Ephritah. Ephritah is the county of Bethlehem. That was written before there was palestine. and Israel was in the land. The story of Joseph in the Bible tells us where he would be born in a stable. Palestine comes from a roman word which Israel was named after 70 AD. Jesus had died a jew in Israel the land. No palestine then. As His birth was about seventy years before palestine ever existed. and He lived 33 years on Earth. When you have not studied the facts, then you can call yourself Him/his and whatever. I just call myself a straight white privledged male.
