RELEASE CONCERT - CD Viena Brasileira - Wiener Choro Ensemble (1/2)

The Wiener Choro Ensemble, the musical showcase of the Wiener Choro Klub, launches its first CD paying tribute to the city of Vienna and its musical tradition and to the Choro musical genre, considered as the Brazilian classical music. This concert is to thank the 200 contributors of the fundraising campaign who made this project possible.

CD VIENA BRASILEIRA
On the album Viena Brasileira the "Wiener Choro Ensemble" explores the quintessence of Brazilian music symbolised by the genre Choro, establishing a current dialogue with its influences (European baroque music), and its ramifications (maxixe, samba) between Europe, Africa and Brazil. The concept of the CD takes compositions by the musicians Antônio de Pádua, Marco Antônio da Costa and João Vítor, pays tribute to some of the classics of the Choro repertoire, with works by the composers Waldir Azevedo (1923-1980), and gives a contemporary touch to the arrangements.

WIENER CHORO ENSEMBLE
The group Wiener Choro Ensemble" formed by Antônio de Pádua, Roberta Karin, João Vitor, Daniel Mesquita and Marco Antonio da Costa, is the vector and main musical showcase of the Wiener Choro Klub, a musical movement based in Vienna. A pioneer in Austria, this project has as its main objective the dissemination and teaching of Choro, the first urban Brazilian music, which therefore deserved the treatment of "classical Brazilian music" when it won the salons.
