DDR5 6, 8% better. Big suprise for me. I even didn’t expected that the DDR5 will win with this horrible high timings. Maybe DDR4 with better frequency and timings will be closer to this DDR5, but anyway I must say that DDR5 is faster.

The fps lows are the best gains ! Smoother gameplay when playing

Finally I can get over 550 FPS in Rainbow 6. I've refused to play because of that.

damn didnt expect that much of a difference in some of the games

For productivity, it might make a difference. In terms of games, it definitely improved the low 0.1% frames and stutters.

Love to see technology improving but I'm happy with my pc for at least another 4 year's

Thank you very much, excellent comparison. Clearly there is a small improvement on all 3 fps numbers, but not really worth it if the cost of ddr5 is higher than getting a ddr4 kit of the same capacity.

Thank you. I don't play the newest games, but, I play some games here and there; and do video rendering. I was looking for a simple video to show me the difference in DDR4/DDR5. It seems this video shows that the upgrade has it's improvement; however, not enough (for me at least) to justify the cost. I'll wait a couple years before upgrading. Good since I just built a 5800x desktop. Hopefully I won't need a new desktop or upgrades for 5+ years (my last computer lasted me 7, and still works great).

My takeaway .. the 0.1% that often in FPS games is stutter is greatly reduced with DDR5.

Seems substantial, but we need to see the exact same test with the only variable being 4K!

Would be interesting to see the same test repeated at 1440p. Thanks for the review.

That's honestly a pretty positive surprise, didn't think it would make a significant difference at all and if anything I would have expected the lower latency of DDR4 to be more beneficial than the higher bandwidth of DDR5.

Have a decent Gpu rather than Ddr5, trust me it's better. Ddr4 still rocks!

I get the 1080p test but I play in 4K max everything and like 10% in 1080p translated to 4K is like 2-5 fps. Also at 1080p who cares about a few fps when your in the 100's-200's and up unless you play competitive and make $ or upgrading from a very old rig it is just not worth all the hassle or extra 💵 to run 12th gen imo.

TLDR: BELOW (Please upvote)
DDR5 5200Mhz > DDR4 3200Mhz by 10 to 15 FPS (around 8%-ish give or take 2%);
It reduces GPU bottleneck, causing it to run faster but at the cost of +5 to +10 watts (and slight +thermal);
As of 2022, DDR5 costs around 25% more than DDR4, and is currently only utilized by flagship mobos and CPUs;
My opinion, DDR4 will continue to be relevant during it's ramp-down/phase-out through around 2028(-ish) as 4k 60Hz and 2k 144Hz become the norm.

Could you include Forza Horizon 5 in your next tests?

10-30 fps difference for just the ram is hella impressive. Imagine how much better it’ll be once more games are optimized to properly use it to?😁
