Finding Your Kibbe Type

Are you struggling to make the Kibbe Test work for you?
Do you not really know how to answer the questions and how the answers are different from each other?

Me too! But I figured out a way that works for me to look at the test from a bigger picture and get where I need to be to reach my goals with it. Maybe, what I did will help you too!

What categories did you narrow things down to? What's your subgroup you're deciding between?

The spectrum of yin-yang is so much more helpful than the test. The test does not include things like chin size, neck length, nose size...all of those are very important to determining body types in my opinion.

This is such a great video with such a clear explanation!! <3! I Iove that you don't over focus on each question.

Your explanation of yin-yang and how to approach the test is the best I've heard. People can't seem to quite grasp the concept that the results are based solely on yin-yang which ultimately leads a person to the Kibbe image id they lean towards. It's not about vibe, essence, or what style of clothing they identify with. It's all in the yin-yang. Once it's understand, it's not that confusing.

David Kibbe designed the system to teach women about learning their body, to accept themselves and be empowered to dress their very best as the unique individuals we are. Unfortunately many of them have been mislead by misconceptions courtesy of so called "Kibbe experts" on the internet referring to the image id as "body type" or using the analogy of feminine vs masculine to yin-yang. Sadly David no longer recommends the quiz.

I'm a SD. Thank you for such a clear and simple explanation without complicating it unlike the so called "Kibbe experts".

FANTASTIC Kibbe video, I can't believe how long it took me to find this

I agree that you are more Yang, but I think you are 'blunt yang' rather than 'sharp yang.'

I agree with some people below, I would consider you more of a flamboyant natural or soft natural, rather than soft dramatic. I loved the video, it was very informative :)

Another tip for everyone who is confused about their types; do the method from back to front. Try to put together a few typical outfits from the archetypes you’re doubting in between (from your own closer or borrow some from friends/family). I do believe you will be able to tell which outfits look better on you.

I always felt the difference between natural and dramatic was like this... natural feels like wood, sunshiny warm and square. Dramatic feels like cool, angular metal.

This has helped me so much! Every time I’ve taken the test, I come up with different answers. After watching this, I’m pretty sure I’m either a soft natural or soft dramatic.

This is really a fantastic video. People are soooo very confused about the image identities (started by Northrup and McKinsey and adopted by Kibbe) and this really will help people try to figure it out. Everyone wants to focus on their exact measurements and figure out their image identity that way - and it simply doesn't work. Knowing your height, bust, waist and hip measurements is not going to help you in Kibbe. People for some reason get really confused when they have a variety of answers. Most people from what I have seen are either Gamines or Naturals. But those seem to be the categories no one wants to be for some reason and they get so tied up into these stereotypes given to each of the identities. Like I have often heard that naturals MUST HAVE A upside triangle body shape - but thats not true at all. A women with these measurements - 34-24-34 can be in any of the image identity categories. It all depends on their bones and the way the flesh lays on those bones. I've also heard weird thinks like Flamboyant Gamines must have big feet and hands and Soft Gamines must look like a doll. Or that romantics must have large breasts and theatrical romantics are just short versions of soft dramatics. That Soft Dramatics must have bomb shell bodies and Dramatics must be manly. People want these tidy stereotypes but that is not how it works. When you get past the basic understanding of kibbe (like you developed beautifully in this video) you gotta learn the balance of what yin and yang characteristics go into each identity. Understanding that there is not some stereotype of style or look to each identity is what most people are missing when it comes to figuring this out. They're like but I got 4 C's, 2 A's, 2 B's, 4 D's and 4 E's. WhAt DoEs ThIs MeAn??? It DoEsNt WORK. Well it means you drop the C's because they are neither yin or yang, nor are they in the majority (10 or more). So that leaves you with 8 D/E answers and 4 A/B answers. Depending on where in the quiz those answers were that either makes you Theatrical Romantic, Soft Gamine or Soft Natural. But what answers did you mostly get for your skeleton? Was it 3 D/E and 3/ A/B? Then that is probably Gamine. Was your skeleton all A/B? Then it's probably Natural. Was your skeleton all D/E? Then it's probably Romantic. Then from there you try on the different recommendations and you MUST remember that being one of the image identities does not force you to dress in a certain STYLE of clothes. It is the line of the clothes not boho, sexy, teenagerish or boyish.

This video was so common sense and really helped me figure out (down to two-Soft Natural or Classic-I think a difference there is symmetry and that I don't know I can tell much).

Lol! I narrowed my possibilities down to the exact same two as you and then got stuck. Hopefully the next video will sort it out for me!

Oh my gosh, this was so much more helpful than anything else. Thank you for going through this with us!

This is very helpful. The system is easy to over-analyze. It's about stepping back and having an objective, fresh-eye to look at yourself with.

I think this way of getting started is a great suggestion! For the longest time, I had problems deciding between FN and SN for myself. I am clearly a natural and I have some softness to my figure, but I also have some extra sharpness to my bones (overall soft yang, but some A answers as well), so it was hard for me to tell which undercurrent was stronger. Also, some Kibbe-verified flamboyant naturals are pretty curvy, like Jennifer Lawrence and Michelle Obama; I think they both have a lot of softness to their figure, but it's not enough to make them SN, which confused me. That's why I had a hard time figuring out my subtype. At the end of the day, FN clothing just doesn't suit me, while SN lines complement me well, so I ended up concluding with SN :)

love this! I feel like you were doing my test as well at the same time as my body is pretty much the same! I went for soft dramatic, personally, based on the fact that I prefer to wear structured lines than flowy ones most of the time, but that being said, it depends on the day! For work, for example, I prefer to be more yang, so I go for soft dramatic, but for leisure, I will gravitate towards more yin, soft natural styles.

I love how teaching and articulate you are of this quite overwhelming subject matter. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now I must watch it again to apply to my picture.
