*I made an updated video on this and consulted experts and it turns out I’m not a soft classic but a flamboyant gamine! Right next to each other so it makes sense :)*

Image consultant David Kibbe developed a body typing method that considers more than just our bust, waist and hip measurements to give us 1 of 13 body types. Each type comes with clothing recommendations that are supposed to enhance your unique features rather than camouflage them. Today, I'm sharing an overview of Kibbe's system, how you can figure out which type you are, my own type and how it can be used to enhance your personal style. I hope this is helpful and thanks so much for watching! xx Audrey

I did't like Kibbe's method at first. I found it overwhelming and did't like the recommendations for my body tipe... until I realize I had taken the quizz incorrectly.
I always thought I was a Romantic, but now I can tell I'm a Soft gamine and everything makes sense. My wardrobe is better than ever!

I loathed that whole fruit system, I mean who wants to be an APPLE or a PEAR - or any fruit for that matter? :D I also didn't like the way - which you mentioned in the video - that system tells you to hide parts of yourself. I've always had a bit of a belly, but I never felt the need to hide it, definitely not with some huge granny-caftan which ages me 20 years. Now I know I'm a soft natural in the Kibbe system and no longer feel like I look great naked but awful with clothes on. :D I've found the best lines for me and find it incredibly helpful. I also recommend Aly Art and Merriam Style.

When I was in my early 40s a friend and I took a 3 full day course and I’m sure this was a part of it. I can’t begin to tell how much money it’s saved me. I’m petite but have a short neck and this was addressed. I no longer wear turtlenecks and am so much happier. I never felt dressed up in my black silk shirt dress with the pointed collar because it didn’t fit my personality. The collar made it more casual and it wasn’t “me”. These are just a couple of things addressed in the class along with hairstyles, color, body shape, style. That class was one of the best things I have ever done. You could see in pictures of people with similar body shapes and personalities what worked and what didn’t. Thank you for this, Audrey, it was very enlightening. I agree that we should wear what makes us feel good and right, but sometimes what we love isn't flattering on us and we don't know why. This is when this method is helpful.

Fellow Soft Classic here! It definitely clicked for me when I discovered Kibbe about a year ago. I realized why certain clothes just never felt at home on my body, no matter how much I wanted to make them work (hello, my boho years), and why I finally feel like I can wear all my clothes all the time.

I like this body type way analysis better and I feel like this is the one we should use more since it celebrates who we are more. :-)

I went to David kibbe in 1988 he did me as a Soft classic. It changed my life nothing but positive and he did my colors soft summer light.

It was pretty easy to figure out that I was a Soft Dramatic, but I mistyped myself as Theatrical Romantic at first until I found out Kibbe doesn't consider long, narrow bones to be "delicate". That's what threw me off on the quiz.

I love this system! I'm a tall woman with an hourglass figure and honestly, almost all style systems I've tried either recommend tight clothing to show off curves (super objectifying and uncomfortable; I also work in finance, so I can't wear stuff like this to work) or colourblocking to look shorter (I don't see anything wrong with my height so I never understood this tip).

Kibbe's system is great because every body type gets a variety of recommendations they can work with!

I usually follow my lines, elongated + narrow + rounded, which still gives me a lot of room to experiment with different styles while still looking put together. Surprisingly, a lot of office wear falls under the SD umbrella which works out amazingly for me, too!

I've been following Kibbe's system for a while, it's been super helpful! I should mention it's about lines of clothing and the cut and material as it fits on the body. It's not about necessarily the style of the clothing item. That can be anything although most cuts tend to be similar styles.

very interesting! with all the different body types, shapes and sizes no wonder we struggle to find well fitting clothes when brands make the clothes from a pattern that would suit one shape very well and then just shrink or enlarge them for sizing.

Soft Gamine here! 🙋🏻 It took me a while to find out, but I finally realised why I always look better with short touseled hair, fitted clothes with waist emphasis, colourblocking and medium-weight fabrics. I thought I was a Soft Natural at first, but I would catch myself looking sloppy sometimes. In the end, it was because my skeleton was too small to hold the Natural kind of looks. I looked like I was drowning in my clothes! But now that I'm following the recommendations for SGs, I look put-together, and I feel much better about my body, knowing that the opposites of Yin and Yang parts of my body is what makes my body proportionate as a SG. ✨

Interesting how difficult it is to see ourselves objectively. I’m still having trouble figuring out my own Kibbe type, but I had you pegged as a soft classic soon after discovering Kibbe types. It seems so obvious in your case.

Hi Audrey! I love this video and Kibbe method. I've been studying Kibbe's method for years and it has helped me so much with my own style and also determining others very quickly. This is also a reason I have to tell you this. I don't see you soft classic like you said in the video. Like you know, all classics have traits that are perfectly between feminine and masculine. Soft classics tend a little bit toward feminine and dramatic classic toward masculine but still all them are in the middle of the line segment. Any trait you view closely, you can't say is it feminine or masculine. Unlike naturals which have both feminine and masculine traits but mixed well (and gamine who also have feminine and masculine traits but not mixed, just combined).

Let's take a look at your face. Your eyes are strong and narrowing from the outside. This is masculine trait. Still they are quite soft looking and big which is feminine trait. They are very close each others which narrows all classics out immediately (classics are always in perfect symmetry and balance). Your nose is long and strong looking (->masculine), but rounded and soft (-> feminine). Your muscles are clearly seen in your jaw, cheeks and other face. This is masculine trait, yet your face is soft and rounded which is feminine thing. Your mouth is quite wide and strong looking (M) but still soft (F). And I haven't even got to your body! Shortly, your muscles are standing out quite clearly even through clothes, which again cannot be classics. I know some professional athlete classics and even them don't have muscles that are standing out through clothes. For example, I can distinguish clearly your calves and thighs through clothes (f.e compare to Grace Kelly who has not). With complete certainty I can say that you are not any of the classics. I think that you are soft natural. Also when I look your instagram photos I think that you look much, much better in natural clothes. Classic pieces look pretty dull and separate on you, but natural pieces brings you to life
.

I really hope you understood what I meant, because I think this can be very useful to you. Sometimes it's hard to see yourself objectively :).

Love your videos and personality,
xo, Sindy

I took an online test and based on the score it gave me, I was in between types. After reading the descriptions, I lean towards Gamine more. I love this boyish vibe and found out that it's what I've always have naturally gravitated towards.
I love how this system isn't about achieving the "perfect" body shape, but working with your own features to make the best of them.

during lockdown, I have discovered the Kibbe body typing. I think you have done a wonderful job of explaining. I agree that it is all about celebrating and not becoming 'cookie cutter'. I am a dramatic classic, and that explains why I gravitate towards those looks. Even tho' I love bohemian on others...on me...not so much, but I have learned to incorporate those into accessories! As a 72 year old personal trainer, I have come to learn how to enjoy my body ( I was a late learner!)...and now am having fun...culling and finding new..or in my case, previously loved! And...vintage...so many were designed with my body in mind...Dior! Again, thank you and I am enjoying your videos.

Think this can be good to stop marketing ...selling and influencing us into a fashion or trend which dosnt suit us..then is purchased and not worn .
If you know your colours and style your less likely to make a bad purchase...driven by " fashion" marketing.

Audrey, this video Changed. My. Life. after this video I took the test and did more research and found out I'm a soft classic - I love wearing lots of interesting styles but now I realize why I never felt my best in them - they throw me off balance!! Thank you so much for sharing this!
