I love this idea! Personally, Id never charge my kids rent tho bc I always want them to feel like home is a safe and welcoming place. What I currently do is give them $10 a month for luxuries like sweets or toys (I only intoduced pocket money when I knew my kids were old enough to handle their own money, they were 9 and 11) and $10 for clothes. I dont make them pay for food or utilities, but I do make them pay an overspend bill, so if they leave a light on, or waste food and dont have a gd enough reason, they get $1 taken away. I feel like instead of teaching them they need to pay, it teaches them to be grateful and not wasteful. Does anyone here agree or think of any adjustments I cld make?

BRILLIANT! ....GOOD IDEA! ...TEACH KIDS HOW TO SAVE & BE RESPONSIBLE WITH MONEY...WHILE YOUNG.
I DID THIS....MONTESSORI STYLE.
TODAY, MY SON IS VERY RESPONSIBLE WITH MONEY...NO WASTE, NO DEBT, RESPECT & APPRECIATION. HE'S HAPPY, AMBITIOUS & HARD WORKING.
❤😂

As a 18yo who's wanting to go into entrepreneurship I wish my parents had taught me about money so I think it's excellent that you are teaching your kids being financial literate! ❤ 😊

Y'all... It's 1 dollar. And it's from money that the parents make and give. It's not like little beth is working a hard 9 to 5 at McDonald's and her mom is taking 90% of her paycheck every month. 🙄

That's why Indian parents were best, atleast they don't let us to spend a penny of our pocket money for rent or bills.. that doesn't mean that we don't know how hard making money is❤.

My friend's parents gave her and her brother a set amount each month, and out of that they had to buy everything accept their meals at home. They had the bottle of their own clothing, pay for their own entertainment, etc. She said she learned very quickly that the really expensive sneakers weren't that important.

I think it’s a brilliant life and money management game. As long as the kids know it’s a learning game it’s awesome!! You should do a video about how you set up the context. Because their friends aren’t paying rent etc. How do you position it so they’re proud of what they’re learning and saving/spending?

It doesn't matter if it's a dollar

What I hate about parents is when they expect us to pay for all our stuff. Like you literally WANTED US to be born, we never asked?! So since we never asked they should atleast be taking care of us
