Thank you so much. It’s amazing to see how we still have teachers who have a true passion for teaching kids.

Good morning. Thank you for some good, concrete examples of explicit phonics instruction ideas. Many of my students struggle with blending so this post is a big help to me. Thank you once again.☺

I love your videos they are so helpful. I'm a parent trying to help my struggling 2nd grader. He struggles with reading and phonics.

Thanks, very interesting. You explain everything based on your own experiences and everyday activities and techniques in the classroom. I'm an ESL teacher and I think that teaching reading to children has a whole world of methodology that applies to it just like ESL and it also takes experience to be able to do it well.

Another thing I do when teaching phonics with my students is we will have an anchor chart paper up with whatever we are working on, example Sl blend...then as my students are reading independently or working in reading groups if they find a word that matches the specific week skill they write it on the anchor chart (as long as that word is not already on the list). At the end of the week we read all the words they found.

Thank you so much for the explanation of how you taught explicit phonics for first graders! I have your Phonics games, and this makes so much sense. I will be getting the poems next! Thanks again!!!! :)

What are your thoughts on teaching the 6 syllable types? I teach first and we are revamping our phonics instruction. We use lessons based on Orton Gillingham techniques and teach the rules of syllables - closed syllables, open syllables, magic e, soldier rule, long spelling after short vowels, etc. I've got your poems and your print and play phonics games. They are great! Thanks for the video!
