Thanks for the suggestion of soldering on pigtails and wiring to the pigtail. You helped me solve how I am going to use surface wiring to mount these lights. The manufacturers use of nonstandard wire color has the potential for being dangerous, IMO.

I just today got my Verbatim LED Batten LED light 4 ft 36W, with power cord for $73 inc shipping in Sydney ( from the Lighting Outlet), to replace old fluro tubes. Problem was that all the fluro housings are NON starter lights - which means I could not just replace with LED - had to totally replace entire fitting/light.

Take the end cover off and check the circuit board that is j
floating just inside the plastic end cap. The aluminium housing is just mm away from live wires. I doubt the are certified or safe. Do yourself a favour disconnect one and check.

Sadly these lights are not getting so cheap these days and I have been researching and working on this lights. I have them all over my home and one thing I found out is that they run the lights hard, so they don't last as long as they should. The newer and more expensive ones seem to have better LED chips, but they are still run very hard. Replacing a resister on the transformer to a better value would make them run better, but thats complicated. Just be aware. They are very good lights though...
