The Jewish Connection to the Land - Settlements Part 2 | History of Israel Explained | Unpacked

This week, we’re continuing our in-depth look at the Israeli settlements. To get a better understanding of the subject, we’re jumping back to biblical times to unpack the Jewish connection to Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).

As with everything Jewish, it all starts with Abraham. This was a man who spent much of his time on the move - much of it in what we now call the West Bank.

And it wasn’t just Abraham. His descendants (and later, generations of Jewish people) also spent a lot of time in Judea and Samaria, creating a long-lasting connection with places such as Hebron, Shechem (Nablus), Beit El, Gilgal and Gibeah.

A connection that couldn’t be broken through thousands of years of exile.

Fast forward to the 20th century where events in two separate communities - the ancient city of Hebron and the modern agricultural village of Kfar Etzion - took on a powerful symbolism for Jewish resettlement in the West Bank.

This is why I support the confederation solution. The land is too important for Israelis and Palestinians to divide it along ethno-national lines, and Israeli settlers have their own communities just like Palestinians do.

The Jews have a painful history. But God allowed all these tribulations to help every Jew to grow in character and faith in God. Israel is a blessing to the world.

Great video, but the Holocaust also was a HUGE reason why so many people advocated for Zionism. Just thought I should bring that up because it should have been mentioned in the video.
EDIT: They do show a short clip from the Holocaust, but it's not addressed directly

The Jews led by Joshua invaded Canaanite land, what you are referring to as Judea and Samaria.
The Jews were not there first. There are other people who have ancient roots to the land, well before the Jews.
Claiming the Muslim conquests was the first time Arabs inhabited the land is pure propaganda.

Ok. I can pinpoint my family's origin to land and a farm in Ireland before being driven out due to famine in the 1800s. Can I go and claim that land of origin and kick out current owners? No. If I want to return to Ireland, I must start over as an immigrant. Common sense. The same for Jewish people. If God is with you, he will present opportunities and land, legally, for development. But settlers ignored Gods many instructions concerning non Jewish citizens in Israel since 1948. It terrorized, murdered, stole from, drove out many towns and homes since the beginning. It did evil!, so it created this tyranny, conflict, and violence!! God blesses those who follow his instructions.
