I really don't like that Dr. Phil dismissed him when he said, "they coddled me my whole life." This is a real issue that is ignored, and I was a victim of it too for the first 25 years of my life. My mom coddled me and as a result, I grew up feeling apathetic towards the idea that 'hard work pays off.' Even when I worked hard, it didn't make me feel any better. It even made me feel worse knowing that it wasn't making me feel better. It takes a long time to recondition the brain into appreciating that hard work does pay off.

I kinda feel in the same boat. My mother really tried hiding me from the world not letting me go anywhere, her monitoring every move I make but never really teaching me anything about life. Then I turned 18 and was expected to be better than my brother who makes over 100k a year, graduated top of his class from an Ivy League school and is in tv every week. Yet I don't even know what I like because I never went anywhere or did anything

I was like Justin, being coddled by my mom and a basement dweller until I started working and making money and doing some side hustles off the clock.

Still live with family but it's better than doing nothing at home and letting life pass by.

There's nothing wrong with a minimum wage job. I work one that pays my bills and also comes with benefits which is important in the USA. I also do ride share. You do what needs to be done to make ends meet.

Im 23, still living at home and cant afford to go back to school. HOWEVER, I spend everyday planing a solution so mommy isnt caring for me forever. i work and now im in the process of joining the military. I want to give back to ppl and do a good service, just like my grandfather. I dont understand how this guy is fine with doing nothing. Dont u want to make a positive impact in the world?

Dude he does look so much older than 23 even if he had hair. This is why things look so much more shocking in reality. At 23, he’s only a few years out of college if not just right out of college.

Is it just me, or does the 23-year-old look kind of like Billy Joel today?

My man, get a trade. Work for yourself. It seems you need to be your own boss, and that’s fair enough.

and the sick part is instead of teaching them how to live life, they sent them to doctor phil, which is insane.
