Thank you very much for dubbing these videos and not just subtitles.

Here is my explanation as a physio: Our body has a habit of using the least energy for a movement because of energy efficiency. During the first move, they fail to get up because they are using their quadriceps muscle group by pushing down towards the floor with their shins (knee extension)

During the kata, they load up their spinal and hip extensor muscle groups by excentric contraction. Think of this like winding up a toy. Therefore, during the second movement, they include glute muscle with quads. Additionally they extend their back and pivot back on hip joint to reallign against the downwards trust.

He’s aligning his spine and engaging his core. Very similar to how you do it before lifters squat too. First you anchor your feet by pretending you’re screwing them into the ground, then align the top of your spine to the bottom, then you exhale in and explode your core out towards the side of your body. The force you can create when doing it correctly is immense.

There's also the matter of prepping the relevant muscles with kata movements

I love that YouTube added these to my algorithm, so interesting. There is usually a bit of explanation what the difference is but this time no so I'm gonna guess.
Is it bringing the leg back and the bow that keeps the pelvis in a more powerful position?

I miss doing martial arts so bad. That was an important part of my life.

Had to edit for context. I’ve got medical implants preventing me from doing that type of stuff right now😅.

If I got the chance to be trained by Naka-sensei with such basics shown is something I deeply respect and carry by heart.

Active hip vs passive hip.

It is the exact same hinge when in a deadlift setup.

Karate is pure anatomy knowledge.
