If you really want to see the San Andreas fault in action you need to go south of the Salton Sea to the city of Brawley. That city sets right on top of the San Andreas fault. I can remember seeing the refrigerator bouncing across the kitchen floor. After Brawley it takes a left turn and follows the Alamo River and goes just outside of the town named Holtville, and that is where I'm from. I have many memories of the earthquakes as a child. I see the devastation when tornadoes or hurricanes attack our country and I will take the earthquakes any day.

In the Imperial Valley, you can't build a structure higher than 2 stores high because of the earthquakes.
