Better to have many funds spread across AMC considering violations of SEBI rules by AMC's. You never know.

That makes no sense. If you bulk invest (for any goal) using an index/fund at its dip/low you will easily make good returns given medium to long term timeframe, you could have as many funds as you want, given you understand each of them. There’s no problem even if there’s an overlap. For those investing for never redeeming it works even better.

I already have 11MF in my portfolio and thinking to add 2 more.
So, 2 funds in each of large, mid and smallcap. And 1-flexicap, 1-large&midcap, 1-microcap, 1-ELSS, 1-international.
And thinking to add 1 momentum and 1 international and 1- thematic fund.

Experts, please tell me, Am I doing wrong?

These days we observe many frauds across mutual funds like quant, axis, nippon small cap, Motilal Oswal etc.. so we should diversify..u never know the mutual fund u invested all of a sudden starts underperforming because of some fraud

Please review my portfolio:-

1) ICICI blue chip - large cap
2) HDFC Flexi cap - combination of large + mid + small
3) Nippon small cap fund - cap

Does this portfolio looks good or I need to add anything?

They say mutual funds are the easiest investments to learn. But I never understood it. Nothing is as simple as owning a share. ETF I understand, but not an MF.

One scenario is if i have invested 2 lacs in one large cap fund

And scenario 2 is invested 1-1 lac in two well doing different large cap funds with 60-70% overlapping and have same TER.

How second scenario is harmful ? As expense ratio will be on 2 lacs in both scenarios and also second scenario is giving diversification within same category.

Please help !
