As a painter of 20+ years there is a better and cheaper option. I can personally tell you that the best sticking, longest lasting, and most durable spray paint out there is actually Rustoleum. I have sprayed more sem trim black than most people will ever spray anything in a lifetime. I use to get qts of it for big jobs. From experience it will be faded within a year or two. I used it because that’s what my shop would get from our paint store. So if you buy a can of sem, a can of primer, and a can of bulldog your now at $50. I guarantee that a $4.99 can of rustoleum 2x satin black will stick way better and last 5 times longer.

If you decide to do that again, use some Bulldog Adhesion Promoter. It helps the paint bond to plastic and helps it flex with the plastic to prevent cracking.

Yeah for real a $160 valence is a steal at the dealership. The one for my civic is $460 at my dealer

Dealers inspire some of the best work. They inspire others to learn and produce amazing results. Dealers are cool.

Rattle paint 101: for smooth even coat, start spraying b4 the piece and carry it across entire piece. Don't start or stop mid piece or you'll get uneven coverage n splatter

Glad to see someone learning how to do their own stuff instead of paying high prices for a service which is primarily for labor cost💯

When painting plastic make sure to use adhesion promoter and to scuff the surfaces really well and you should go with light coats first completely dry. Then a heavier coat after it’s covered mostly

Adhesion promoter would help along with sealing the item first to cover most of the small sanding marks

So pro tip when spraying, always start and finish off the part. When you spray in a small section where you let off you can throw droplets. Which can show in the finished product, just a tip take or leave it

I use spray paint, sometimes very sparingly, but I had one of those trigger handles you slide over the top of the paint can once you remove the lid. That thing works pretty dang good instead of having to use your index finger on top of the spray button.

OEM Valance for $161 that’s actually not a bad price. Same price for aftermarket valances probably even more.

A light coat of primer will help fill in sand scratches. Trim black is thin, so it will show every imperfection in whatever you're painting. We use it all the time at the collision repair/body shop I work at

They also have "Trim" Black Ultra Satin, "Color Coat" Satin Black, and their Black Flexible Bumper "Coating" id like to see the differences...

Also SEMs "Color Coat" Satin Gloss Clear is a GREAT way to prolong the Paint so that it lasts a very long time!

Pro Tip, heat up the can with some hot water from the sink, helps promote atomization👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

SEM Trim Black is great. Most fade resistant you can buy. I live in Florida and have used it for metal and plastic trims for years.

Damn, black trims used to be an indicator of a lower trim/ base model, painted parts would cost more. Now it's backwards lol
