Back with another educational type video for you guys. In this one I wanted to discuss my reasons for returning my Sony A6500 for a Canon 80D. Sorry again for the lighting issues, I was going to film it again, but I'm so busy I know that I would have never gotten around to it. Better finished with flaws, than never uploaded and perfect! Let me know if y'all like these videos and what you would want be to talk about in the next one! Thanks for watching!!

You don't deserve so many dislikes... You were respectful to Sony and one's needs and likes don't exactly have to reflect others.
Personally I agree with most of your points, manly the body design and color science. Keep up with your work!

I've shot my entire channel on the Canon 70D and with 7.7 million total views, I've never had one person complain that the videos aren't 4K. People will say something about bad audio or lighting, but never resolution.

Only sony folks disliked this video, but guys! This is not your typical androidheads and iSheep battle. This is just a normal dude talking abt why he thinks Sony A..whatever wasnt the camera for him. Thanks buddy. I learned a lot. I'm looking forward to getting a second camera. Already have a 70D so your vid was very informative. Thx

You are SO right about your main reasons for going with Canon. I have the 70d and love it. COLORS and MENU SYSTEM = Ergonomics, lenses = sweeeet! I don't do a lot of videos but I do quite a lot of portrait photography and the skin tones and colors overall from my 70d are better than what I get from my 6d! Which I will be letting go of very soon. Great video, Joshua. Enjoy your 80D!

Yo, the ending of this video is on point. The BIGGEST thing is that the Canon's are going to look beautiful out of the camera. Sony can get beautiful colors with a good picture profile and color grading, but it's so nice to not have to worry about it.

Not sure how I ended up here, but I enjoyed this & also agree with this entire video.

There is a lot of hate on this video but I think I have to agree with you. I don't think I can live without the flip-out touchscreen, Dual-Pixel AF, touch-to-focus, long lasting batteries, and the COLOR on my Canon 70D. I know the aliasing is TRASH and so is the low-light capabilities, but because it works so seamlessly in my workflow, I've been able to shoot with it in low light and still get it to work, and those two drawbacks in image quality are worth it for the lenses and color and everything else that Canon is great for. But I do have to agree... Canon NEEDS to start innovating more. They think putting less video features in their DSLRs will push people to their cinema cameras, but it's really just pushing people to Sony. Just imagine if the 80D shot 4k video. It would sell like WILDFIRE.

I do photography, videography, and cinematography. I currently have a t4i and I'm going to buy an 80D. For a short second, I was obsessed with getting an a6300. But, after fully considering the advantages and disadvantages I changed my mind. I need one main driver that can handle all my different work well until I can purchase my first cinema camera. Canon hands down is the best for photography. Doing videography, good battery life is crucial. Like you said Canon's color science is great and no one wants to deal with the expense and complication of adapters to mount lenses and monitors.

I just ordered a canon 80D. It should be here tomorrow, can’t wait.

Not having a Flip up on A6500 screen makes me wanna buy Canon 80d

I Frankenstein my footage shamelessly. I have an 80d, A7rii, G7, and a6000 ... But no Nikon stuff🤷🏽‍♂️... I shoot with them all depending on the shoot. I like them for different circumstances. Good video sir!! it's all a matter of personal preference.

I just bought my first camera about a month ago. Its a Canon 80d. I don’t have anything else to compare it to but I love it so far. Thanks for the video.

If you hook up a power bank to the a6500 when using hand held the battery lasts for way longer, not the easiest thing to do when on a gimbal though. In the end you made the right decision because the Canon makes you happy, and that's all that matters.

Good for you, and I congratulate you for your thorough explanation. You are absolutely correct to go back to Canton for your B camera. Your workflow and your primary camera is a Canon, and in all actuality, purchasing the Sony was a mistake if it was going to be part of your business. You did not bash Sony but as you can see all of the haters are out there. All of your reasons are 100% legitimate because a Camera choice is very personal. You realize that 4K is not all that important with the type of work you do, therefore the Canon has been a great choice for you.

There is something you said I personally have experience about Canon. That is -"using Canon is like using your own natural eyes."

As a Sony NEX user and corporate video creator since 2012 I completely agree with you. The colors I get out of my camera are fine and no client has ever complained but I admire Canon colors...

I'm used to the Sony VG20/EA50/FS100 cameras which have good autofocus, full touch screen and good battery life but none of the small Sony cameras would replace them. I would have to upgrade to Sony FS5 to keep all of what I have and get 4K but then I might just get a canon c100 mII and get nicer colors too or heck even a Panasonic G7 beats most small Sonys. I kid you not!
The 80D is a great small all round HD camera... and the 6D mII is the same just with better low light :) but non shoot 4K

So many "dislikes" on a video relating personal experience would indicate just a bit of... Let's call it "bias."

I'm with you regarding simplicity! When the time came to update from my 60D, I briefly considered switching to Sony and using an adapter given all my EF lenses, but that started sounding real messy (i.e., 'x' lens has slow focusing on 'y' adapter), so went with the 80D. As a still photographer, I felt badly about that for about 15 minutes since I really wanted to go full frame. While not the same, obviously, I sweetened the pot a bit by adding the Canon EF-S 10-18mm IS lens, and am getting really good results with that very affordable lens.

NX1: Nothing below full frame can touch it. It might be a dead system but the camera is still very much alive and kicking.

I agree with you if you have bunch of canon native lenses. Lenses are very important. If you have lots of native lenses for that camera system do not switch. It will cost you too much. Stick with one system. Either sony or canon or nikon or panasonic or fuji, etc. The lenses are very important in choosing the camera system.

As a Sony user, I totally agree with many of your points. Sony bottleneck is lens eco system. Native quality/value=bad. Adapter AF is okay for limited selection of newer lenses but will disappoint on any fast action shooting. I truely believe the only thing keeping Sony from crushing Canon is Sigma and Tamron not on the E-mount band-wagon yet. All my glasses are EF mount because I refuse to be extorted for quality.
