I will be putting these Hiking shoes to the test and doing updates on them, as I use them throughout the year.

I have both as well and for my feet the 10 1/2 size is fine for both the low and high. They do stretch out over time. I've had many boots over the years from very expensive traditional boots (Kastinger, Asolo) to more modern boots from LaSportiva. For the money and the type of hiking I do now, the Merrell Moabs have worked out well. They are comfortable, attractive and affordable.

Merrells have been my go-to hiking boots for the last few years. Put them through hell and high water (literally) and they've held up

Good review!
I got some Moab 2 mid-rise boots (2 v 3 is not related to height of rise) and like you had to go a half size larger. In fact I went a full size larger in order to accommodate additional thin sorbothane insoles (inserted below the Merrell ones) that I need for long hikes due to thinned plantar fat pads, though the provided insoles alone would be fine initially. Also for thicker socks. They were immediately very comfortable and have a quality feel. Would recommend.
When my second pair of much loved, ancient New Balance 1520s recently fell to bits I didn't hesitate to get Merrell Moab 2 hiking shoes and indeed my shoe size was the correct size. They were also immediately comfortable and after just a week of little use were perfect for walking moderate distances, including volcano walks, in Lanzarote 2 weeks ago.
Living in Scotland, where it sometimes doesn't rain(!) I chose the leather (LTR) Goretex (GTX) versions of each. No wet feet so far. The main differences between Moab 2 (2017) and 3 (2022) are the footbed and materials. Moab 3 is said to have an improved footbed and has a softer rubber sole whereas the Moab 2 has a harder synthetic sole that is said not to grip so well in the wet on smooth surfaces. Although I haven't noticed that, Moab 3s might be the better option for both boots and shoes.

Just bought a pair of Moab 3 mids. In-store, I compared then with the competition, and even though more expensive, it was an easy decision. Nothing worse than a pair of uncormfortable boots on a long hike. It's hard to put a price on anything that puts a smile on your face, each time you put them on 😁

I haven't had the Moab 3's yet..

But I'm on my 2nd pair of Moab 2 Tactical Waterproof Mid height.
I didn't see a reason to get the 3's.
The Moab 2 Tactical Waterproof are so damn comfortable I will just wear them till they wear out then rebuy them. After a year the insole dies a bit.. I just buy another for $20 from Merrell directly and get another year out of them. After 2 years they're still technically good'ish.. but buying a new pair on sale just makes sense.
I do have a pair of Merrell Moab Speed Sneakers which are very stable for low sneakers. Over rocks, they're great.
But.. I did have to break them in. And I gotta say that the Moab 2's are more comfortable imho.

Sketchers.. I agree with both you & your Dr's. The right ones are extremely comfortable for all day wear. And yes, frequent wear will burn them out in 6mo where you will get holes In parts of the fabric & tread will be damn near flat.
But.. for those 6 mo, you will have one of the most comfortable sneakers you ever put on your feet that I've worn for 15hrs on a job and feet didn't hurt.
I only buy one model and I accept the caveat that they won't last me more than a yr. Sketchers Go Run Ultra Trail Altitude - Element
How's that for a mouthful? Lol for $50-65 on sale, they're worth it.
Lastly,
The brand Hoka.. they're NOT cheap.. but damn they are ridiculously comfy. I own two pair from them
The Bondi 8 & Anacapa Mid Waterproof.
The Bodi comes in regular width, Wide & Extra Wide. And will be like walking on a cloud all day. It's ridiculous.
The Anacapa are a step more comfortable than the Merrell Moab 2. But the Merrells are definitely more durable with tread wear.
So do I recommend the Hoka Anacapas, yes.. but.. I will say get the Merrell Moab 2 instead because on a sale you are getting Alot of shoe that is comfortable and long lasting for a good price. The Hoka Anacapa price ($175) kind of kills it's value when compared to other shoes of it's type/level.
The Hoka Bondi 8's & Bondi SR's however, while Also pricey.. they are the most comfortable sneaker I've ever worn. Especially for every day walking around.

I hope my long comment was helpful and added to your video.

Nice review. I'm also thinking of using the MOAB III I have as an everyday (winter) shoe. Both the MOAB II and MOAB III come in shoe and boot, your choice. Both come in standard and narrow fittings. Sketchers are a very poor choice for people with 'foot' issues (I am surprised anyone that knows anything about foot issues would even think about recommending sketchers). They are NOT designed to take orthotics, the inner is glued in. I have the MOAB III in shoe. The GTX version IMHO a waste of money, the non-GTX (ie. Ventilator) designed to be airy and dry out quickly. The boot gives minimal ankle support, it's mainly for ankle protection. If you don't need the protection, get the shoe, it's way lighter and much easier to do up/ get on/off. Just my $0.02 worth.

It's not as easy to find them in "wide" widths. but if you search around online you can. I recently bought the same Merrell MOAB 3's in this video and I am astounded by the level of comfort (right out of the box). I like them so much I may also buy a lower height different style of Merrell's, for non-hiking "daily wear". I am so glad I found them in WIDE... I have wanted Merrell's for years... but never knew that also make WIDE's (which I needed).

Also in Erie PA. I picked up the MOAB just a few days ago. Very comfortable out of the box. However, they were true to size for me at 9W

These were a recent good deal on Amazon, but I sent them back. Nice features, but they just don't fit my feet well (and for the price, I really wanted them to). Purchased Dansko Paisley instead and am very happy with the fit, which is close to what Merrell used to make. Thanks for the review, Kevin.

I still need to break in my waterproof Merrell gore tex hiking boots. Haven't hiked at all this year but plan on getting back into my day hikes. Did camping though. Your feet swell a half a shoe size when you hike. Also double pair of socks fills in the room if it is a problem if your feet move around so you don't have friction on the feet.
