The chances are that you are using Windows on your desktop PC, maybe macOS, but probably Windows. Have you ever tried Linux? It is at least worth trying it once. But how? Please, let me explain.

I watched this video a number of times before I had the nerve to download the iso file and the etch program to burn to a usb but I'm so glad that I finally did it. Being able to use Mint without actually installing it on my new computer that has Windows 10 preinstalled is just wonderful. Thank you for this.

As someone who would like to experiment with Linux, I would thoroughly appreciate an upcoming video regarding the proper use of the terminal!

I am on Anarchy Linux. A Arch distro targeted to a audience who doesn't want to fiddle around with advanced noob-unfriendly building from scratch, but with all the benefits of Arch.

I actually found out about XFCE this way and don't want to turn back, I used to love KDE.

I started using Linux back when Ubuntu 10.04 was a thing, but have been bouncing around on different distros on a USB until I found this.

I dont suggest bouncing around distros, just pick one and stick with it, do your research if you must...especially since you may have to relearn things, like how apt-get is to ubuntu as to pacman is to Arch. Plus when you become a power user in that distro, theres little to nothing you wont be able to fix, since open source and all.

Thank you, Gary, for making this video. I've been using Linux exclusively since 2008. It's worth mentioning users don't have to make a choice between Linux or Windows. You can do both! I hear so many people (including myself many years ago)"I couldn't get <fill in the blank> to work, so Linux sucks. I'm going back to Windows." Dual booting is pretty easy to setup.
So, I say try it once, then try it again! :)
I also think its important to remember Windows is a PRODUCT and Linux distros are PROJECTS and we should think of them that way. Once a user figures out the lingo, the structures of the distros and desktop environments and the philosophy of GNU/Linux some will realize you can make Linux any way you see fit.
There's also some really great communities in Linux (and some not so great one's) where people from ll over the world just want to help you and share their ideas and developments just because they can.
The world runs on Linux, shouldn't you?

Currently using Linux Mint as my main OS, recently moved from Ubuntu. I used Universal USB Installer to flash my USB. Maybe later I will try out ARC Linux, but it is not time now.

[ Smiles ] I have been using Linux as my main operating system for three years.

Linux Mint is ideal for those people who are coming over from Windows because of its familiar-looking user interface.

Great video . I think showing people how to set up a Linux VM would have been a bit now simple though.

Have been a computer user since 1987; switched from Windows XP to Ubuntu Linux in 2014 (and in hindsight wish I'd done so about 2009). Currently running Ubuntu 18.04 and for the most part I love it. Once more "mainstream" applications become readily usable on Linux in formats such as snap packages, flatpaks etc, Linux should become as popular on the desktop as it ought to be.
