1984 scene puts a smile on my face everytime. Yes, looks like the actors are just having a time of their lives as well.

The 80's vibe is so more natural, fun, and organic. Never realised that the difference was this big

The 80's had i mean footloose, the breakfast club and dirty dancing plus amazing music; i am so jealous of my mother right now

The actors in the 2011 version were trying to put on a performance, but in 1984 they were genuinely having fun dancing together and you can see the difference in how this translates on screen and into our hearts. Nothing beats the original and I swear I wish I could UNSEE the remake.

Omg I'm so glad I've not seen the 2011 version. Nothing will beat Kevin Bacon's version of Footloose.

The original footloose was filmed in my home town., I still live less than a mile from the mills where the prom was filmed. The original was HUGE for me and my friends when we were younger. You cant beat it!!! And Kevin Bacon is the MAN! :) Classic.

No matter how many remakes they do, nothing beats the original Saturday Night Fever, Dirty Dancing, Footloose and Flashdance.

I still get pumped when Chris Penn comes in and goes ham. It's so obvious he had been waiting the entire movie for that scene! 😅

The original invites everyone to dance no matter your skill level. It’s an actual party with kids being themselves. The remake is an audition for Americas best dancer and if you don’t have the moves hit the sideline and just clap. Kenny Loggins footloose is amazing.

Just a few of the reasons why the 84 'version wins hands down:
1) the charisma of Kevin Bacon and all the main actors;
2) they look like normal people and not models / dancers;
3) the actors showed a real mutual involvement;
4) that piece of music is pure fucking gold ...

The 80s version is definitely the best, although the dancing isn't the best. The remake had better dancing, but it was a little over the top. The Kenny Loggins version of the song Footloose sounded so much better and actually makes the watcher want to get up and dance. Kevin Bacon was definitely better in the role.

2:23 As a kid I used to watch this scene on repeat for this guy alone. I had such a crush on like a 15 second character lol.
