E85 Fuel Test at the Pump!

I test all the E85 fuel in my local area to see what the pump is dispensing. Is it really E85 fuel?!

I used this basic test from Amazon: REV X E85 Super Tester Reusable Ethanol Testing Kit

This is a very helpful video, and I was delighted to see that I'm not the only one who dumps old gas (and oil) down he storm drain lol 😜Thanks for sharing, and happy modding!

whats up man. I told you I watch your videos. Im the guy with the stage 1+ e85 sportback with all the bolt ons. I dont run a gauge either. But I buy my e85 from one station that is near me and its a BP station that never tests below E75. They guarantee ethanol content to be 70% or more. And it never fails my tests and usually is e85 or e90 on the dot and I use the same tester as you. In reality as long as you test it first and its above e60 no one has anything to worry about. Your car will make the same amount of power regardless. I prefer a higher ethanol content because it burns cooler. But from what I hear e70-e75 is the sweet spot. And mine is 300 miles from being an 80K mile car with the old style rocker arms. Things runs like a clock. Especially with the stage 2 tcu tune. Love the vids.

They decrease the ethanol content so E85 will burn properly in cold weather. You're in California. You probably don't have low enough temperatures even in the winter for them to bother with changing the blend.

If you plan on storing fuel for long period of time use Rev X E-Boost. One 8 oz bottle treats 25 gallons and not only will it clean and protect the entire fuel system it will keep your fuel fresh for up to one year. Thanks the video.

I my 91 tune and my E85 tune also. Having an E sensor is kind of pointless because by the time it reads it well it’s already in your car and going through your fuel rails. I guess that only works if you were really low on gas and put like a gallon of “E85”

I have an ethanol tester in my toolbox and use it when driveability issue cars and trucks come in. Check for codes then take a fuel sample just to be sure some dummy hasn't filled the non-flex fuel tank with E-85 because "Hey! This is cheaper gas"!! And more than a few vehicles have had 40-60% ethanol content when they should have had 10-15% max. They don't run well when they're fed the alcohol they're not designed for.

What about when you can't get e85 one day? 😂 the sensors are dirt cheap especially from pnp

Now all the fear mongering YouTube kids will have to find something else to harass you about 😆… I’ve been running E85 in my S4’s exclusively for about two years now and have always seen E78-E81 on my P3 gauge. I’m about 350 miles north of you but yeah, we also see very consistent ethanol up here!

Thanks for conducting this fun little science experiment! The question still remains… stage 3 when? 🤔

does water vs fuel really tell you what is in the fuel? hard to believe it does... it can be smth else that is not fuel.

Don't drink gasoline and don't put booze in your car.

E85 is such trash, 2/3 of the mileage for 90% of the price, but hey you can get some more horsepower with a tune at least
