Abstract Algebra 66: Introduction to group actions and the orbit-stabilizer theorem

Abstract: We introduce group actions and the orbit stabilizer theorem. As our main example, we count the size of the group of rotational symmetries of the cube in two different ways. First, we do so by thinking of these rotations as acting on the faces of the cube. Next, we do so by thinking of these rotations as acting on the vertices of the cube. We of course get the same answer via either form of counting!
