Yes! We are completely lost in the "misinformation age". My goodness I have so enjoyed reading and watching these many novels. Smiley is an amazing creation. Thank you David.

As a person who was employed in security and intelligence, le carre displays how this world is made up of ordinary people, not James Bond at all, it's a tedious professional with no celebration or friends outside of the service

When you translate over a person speaking, you need to turn down the volume of the foreign language. I can't hear the translation.

This was very well done 👍👍❤️. For Uber fans of the man, the 2023 documentary The Pigeon Tunnel is truly an excellent biography of this legendary author.

Being in the right place is not enough to write an excellent book. Millions of people witnessed the same historic event as John le Carré. But no one has written anything fictional so memorable about that troubled reality in which a shadow world of a few shapes history and hides under the sunny world in which everyone else lives. Carré was in the "right mental and emotional state" when he wrote the book, and that's what made the difference.

I just finished the recent collection of his letters, which was edited by his son Tim, who died shortly after finishing it. If you love Le Carre, do read it.

Hold on, he went to Sherborne then to Berne University and Oxford? All of these places cost a fortune to attend so he comes from a very comfortable background 🙄 and is part of the establishment.
Amusing that the most English of Englismen chose to die an Irish Citizen 🙄

A truly amazing, natural talent enriched from an early age by a series of unique experiences, a solitary man.

There is no volume differential between the non-English and translator voices. it makes listening very difficult.

As a young boy, he heard snippets of whispers, that his father family came Cork, Ireland. A few weeks before his death, he and his son traveled to Cork to discover that the whimpers were true. He applied passport, and received it.
