The use of the elbow makes a lot of sense in terms of biomechanics. It's always interesting when someone with the prof's impressive background challenges received wisdom that most teachers seem to have simply accepted on trust.

I think you didn't explain HOW to do a collé, you mainly showed it.
Watch Prof Sassmannhaus' Violinmasterclass videos, he focuses entirely on the mechanics for beginners.
