As a former violinist, this is genuinely impressive

I'm glad you decided to focus alot on your bow hold, because an improper bow hold is a nightmare to break. And I'm also glad you decided to work on your tone instead of jumping straight into vibrato, a lot of new players just jump straight into vibrato and that just becomes a detriment to their overall playing, All in all, you made an amazing and huge improvement in only 30 days. If anything, I encourage you to keep at it, you've got real potential

I've been a violinist for 9 years and this is so impressive! I love how its not like unreal how quick she imrpoved but realistic to how learning something this hard really is. It shows how much you can accomplish by consistently practicing.

Violist and violin teacher here! Let me get you some things to know as you continue you journey!
1. you're using a lot of shoulder as you bow, open and close your elbow, also it sounds squeaky since you're putting too much weight when you bow
2. Shoulder rest (you called it a neck rest, never heard of it called that!) they aren't needed to play but really should be used when you play it just helps hold it up, it's something that never goes away
3. Vibrato: DO NOT ATTEMPT FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS BARE MINIMUM it takes A LOT of strength that beginners don't have, I didn't learn until 3 years in
4. finger tapes: USE THEM, the whole point of them is to help train your fingers where to go! after playing for ~5 years I still have my 3rd finger tape, memorizing where they go is one thing but memorizing where they go incorrectly is another. I think you're intonation is pretty good for your level, but have someone who knows what they're doing (ie. local music shop) put tapes on. they do not make you look stupid, I promise they help
5. Question, I notice you have one fine tuner, was this a hand me down violin? beginner violins don't usually have one as it's easier to tune
6 KEEP PRACTICING!! remember, practice makes permanent, not perfect. the more you practice the better you will sound, but make sure you give it 110% every single time so you sound confident when you play for others. I would also recommend taking at least 2 lessons from a professional, they'll help you fix anything :)

I believe in you! you show a lot of promise in the 30 days alone and I think you will make a phenomenal violinist! If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them!

Violinist here!! I'm so shocked to see how good your posture is. Also vibrato takes years to learn. And if not learn correctly, it's very close to impossible to fix. Also never play without a shoulder rest EVER!!!❤️❤️

As a violin teacher, I was very impressed with what you were able to accomplish in 30 days! I was very happy when you decided to take the finger stickers off. It's so much better to let your ear tell you when you are in tune instead of your eyes. I always notice students get better intonation AFTER they take off the stickers. Way to go! You should stick with it :)

Just continue practicing 40 hours a day and I’m sure you’ll be blessed by Ling Ling !!

She survived a whole SIX days without a shoulder rest. If it were me, I couldn't last five minutes. Bravo 👏
Edit: She's really, REALLY good for a beginner and as a violinist myself, I am VERY impressed.

Hi! First of all, I just want to congratulate you on your amazing progress; when I started playing the Violin, It took me more than 30 days just to get the violin balance on my shoulder. Now, I've been playing for a good 5 years, and I just want to give you some tips. Something that I noticed in the very beginning is that you had a violin with one fine tuner, that gold thing near the bottom of your Violin where the string ends. For a beginner, I highly recommend having 4 of those. The Violin you had is what a professional would use. But I also noticed that you got a new one, later on, an amazing choice. And to be honest, there was really nothing wrong I could find. Happy practicing!

Amazing job! It’s not easy to learn violin but you did so well, especially for only 30 days. Majority of people don’t even touch a song for the first couple of months when learning. I am now currently on year 7 of learning the violin and I’ve got to say there’s still a lot I have to learn. Learning the violin is a long and difficult path but for all the beginners, don’t give up! Trust me it’s worth it in the end.

I play guitar and piano, poorly, but I've always wanted to learn the violin. I found your video very inspirational! You might not sound perfect, but your progress was great. Thanks for putting yourself out there for our collective benefit.

you did really good for a month!! and yeah, vibrato is something that takes YEARS to learn so don’t feel like you need to learn it any time soon! i’ve been playing 6 years and only this past year have i actually started learning vibrato, and it’s not NEAR perfect

As a violinist, this makes me happy to see someone learning. I'm in the middle of my 4th year playing, and it is really hard to learn. I still can't do a good vibrato, either, so I'd wait for that!! :)

This is incredible progress! I played for 9/10 years, and you sound like you’re playing on the 2nd year already

During my healing stages. I came across classical music and found that I actually am drawn to the music, it’s just so beautiful. Emotions flowing the power. But yes now im debating on learning either the violin, cello or piano.
