I was only 3yrs old in 1975 but I remember hearing this song on the radio here & there throughout my life. Now at 50, in ‘23 it holds a very deep meaning for me. Who’d of thunk!?

I was 7 in '75. Even then i knew the singer was in love and trying to tell the girl he wasnt. At 4 i loved "Rain drops keep falling on my head". My song and it turned out to be the theme song of my life!!

I've heard this song before, and I liked the music but didn't pay much attention to the lyrics other than the frequently repeated, "I'm not in love." So i thought this song was about a guy who was friends with a girl and she was in love with him, but he wasn't in love with her, and that he was trying to get her to understand that fact. After carefully listening and reading the lyrics, I realize I was completely wrong and that his protestations are to hide fact that he really is in love, desperately in love, and it's the girl who doesn't love him back. Funny how you can get things so wrong if you don't listen attentively.
